Aroma: Immediately you’re hit with barnyard funk and earthiness, then hay, light vanilla, and american oak follow, and lastly you get a nice tart, vinegary smell from the french oak mixed with very light white grape notes, the grape notes come and go. Great complexion in the smell, and it smells very good!
Appearance: I love the appearance of this beer, saisons are normally this bright cloudy yellow color but this beer is clear, and the color is very golden with a slight yellow hue to it, on the pour there is a tiny appearance of a head but it bubbles franticly and disappears very quickly, nice nucleation as well. Excellent appearance to this beer.
Taste: The beginning you get funk, hay, earthiness, and a calm sour/tartness, the middle you get a hint of vanilla, and american oak, and the ending you get a slight vinegary flavor, french oak becomes apparent, slight white grape winey flavor, a hint of vanilla again, and the sourness lingers all the way to the finish but it constantly reduces from the beginning to the end. This is a superb tasting Saison!
Palate: Very light, crisp, and refreshing, perfect for a hot day(it was 104 today and this hit the spot!), slightly oily, leaves your mouth a little dry, but that only leaves you begging for more and it’s a great thing it does!
O: This is an incredible saison, the best I’ve had so far and it’s going to take a lot to dethrone that status, I highly recommend this beer! daknole (11048) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - JUN 16, 2014
Gold pour with a white head. This is a very oaky and tart saison. Not overly sour but the oak is the star. Has a lot of flavors similar to Feral One...just less sour. Really really good. slowrunner77 (13206) - Reno, Nevada, USA - AUG 29, 2014
UPDATED: DEC 16, 2014 Stunned at how much was going on in this low abv beer. The barrel character alone was so complex (think Cigar City White Oak, chardonnay and a splash of bourbon). tropical fruit and rustic funk/twang on the nose and flavor. Deeeelicious. Velvety smooth feel. Seems like past incarnations were 3.8-4.3%, but man, this was just about perfect. Glad I got to try it." baraciisch (3442) - California, USA - MAR 1, 2014
Hazy yellow orange in color... Aroma of citrus, spices, tartness... Flavor is moderately sour with nice citrus backbone, notes of spices, grains, wine oak on finish... Amazingly good, wish I had 5 more... One of my favorites from FW

Free draft fill at Enoteca - Pours hazy golden with a massive white head and sheeting lace. Aroma is strong in brett, lactose is there, funky and tart. Taste is similar, only less intense, nice okay character. Body and mouthful is a little thin and carbonation is soft, but massively drinkable. Awesome!

Draught. Pours a slightly hazy tan color with a small white head on there. Nose is sour and fruity, with a nice bit of funk to it, and seems very fresh. Taste is slightly sour with some great farmhouse elements, and again is light and fresh. Very smooth. Me gusta. OldMrCrow (2446) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 18, 2015

I’ve wanted to try this one for quite a while and am delighted to have the chance. Oh man does it ever live up to expectations. Funky nose melts oak and sour lacto character beautifully. The brett comes on stronger in the flavor, lovely wood without too much vanilla, a tiny bit thin at first sip but quickly becoming utterly satisfying despite the relatively low ABV. Little in the way of fruity esters or mineral, just a delightful slightly sour woody saison. Absolutely beautiful. I wish it wasn’t $9 for 10oz and $60 for a growler, otherwise I would have gone home with an awful lot of it. This could easily have gone 4.4 -- I hope to revisit and verify.
