COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With an infusion of local roast coffee, a dash of cocoa nibs and touch of seasonal sorcery, our signature Velvet Merlin oatmeal stout has been transformed into Mocha Merlin for fall and winter enjoyment. This beer is brewed with the Colombia La Granadilla blend from our friends and neighbors at HoneyCo Coffee Roasters. The Colombia La Granadilla coffee meshes perfectly with the chocolaty character from the cocoa nibs, providing an oatmeal stout experience like no other. A touch of lactose "milk sugar" provides suggestion of rounded sweetness on the finish.

On tap at Blend Bar & Bistro in Hamilton, NJ. Barely translucent black brown color. Small creamy tan head. Big roasted malt nose is redolent of dark roasted coffee. Notes of cocoa, oats, dark fruit, sweet cream and toast. Complex and flavorful. Smooth creamy mouthfeel. Chocolatey finish.

Can. On the pour into a mug glass, a two finger head forms then recedes to a thin layer atop a brown-black body. The aroma is one note, but it is good one of cold brewed coffee. Flavor is very much the same. It's just a roasty coffee stout that isn't burnt nor sweet. The body is a nice medium thickness.

Damn tasty coffee oatmeal stout, rich and roasty and layered, packing in a shocking amount of lovely stout depth for a 5.5% beer. Chocolate, coffee, and caramel all sit atop a pile of deep roasted malt, dark cherry, and hints of vanilla and berry, with a mild but firm bitterness on the finish and a clingy espresso fade. Pours a dark, dark brown with a brief off-white head and modest lace. Nose is a mocha shake. Perky texture has just enough oatmeal creaminess to keep the sweet and java sides balanced. Very, very good.

Can from the store in Hudson with all the old beer on the shelves. Dark brown in color with a bubbly frothy tan head. Huge coffee on the nose and in the taste. Pretty good coffee beer.

6 pack picked up from local beer store. 12 oz can served in tulip glass. Dark black color. Thin tan head. Aroma is mostly coffee with some oat meal. Taste is semi sweet to medium bitter. Notes of coffee and chocolate. The oatmeal really keeps things smooth and balanced the acidic coffee. Over all a great tasting beer and fairly easy drinking at 5.5%

Pours mahogany tinged black into a Sam glass. Mocha head with good retention recedes to hug rim. Chocolate syrup and espresso aromas. Dry with chocolate oatmeal upfront turning to mildly smoky espresso in the lasting finish.

12oz can from Xroads.. poured a chalky looking dark Tootsie Roll brown with a clinging foamy deep beige head. Aroma had a strong metallic penny note throughout that just didn't fade. Behind that there was some sweet chocolate, milk, wet burnt toast and some mocha. Flavor is sugar, chocolate mocha candy, lightly burnt toast, sweet marshmallows. Medium chalky dry body with mouth filling carbonation. This one isn't doing it for me.
