COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A unique spin on the Velvet Merlin Oatmeal Stout. The addition of lactose (milk sugar) and a dose of nitrogen transforms our original stout into ribbons of French silk chocolate and mocha latte richness.

12 oz. can, pours black with a cascading body and a medium tan head. Nose brings out mocha, lactose and some cocoa. Flavour is super smooth, with a wonderful lactose character upfront, followed by subtle coffee and a lingering chocolatiness. Palate is as perfect as can be for a nitrogenated canned beer: silky, cream and without any metallic tinge. Excellent.

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2018 Can pour into nonic pint glass from The City, Plaistow, NH. Appearance is clear dark brown with ruby red after beautiful nitro cascade, 2-finger width creamy beige head with excellent retention and soapy lacing. Aroma is milk chocolate and coffee. Taste is bittersweet mix of milk chocolate and coffee. Palate is medium bodied with silky smooth velvety texture, soft carbonation and more milky sweet than bitter finish. Overall, smooth all around, nice restrained, balanced sweet and bitter throughout. Though not complex, delightful!

On tap at Iron Abbey. Very attractive in glass - dark brown with 1 finger tan head. Creamy mouthfeel. I prefer stouts with a drop more bite to them - this is good, but not too memorable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
