COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pale 31 is an ode to our home state of California—the 31st to be named in fact. Beer may not be associated with terroir the way wine is, but we believe that where we’re from impacts how our beers taste. This California Style Pale Ale represents the bold yet approachable spirit that embodies our state. A crisp floral hop aroma precedes a medium-body and clean finish.

good solid American Pale Ale. Very hoppy with scant malt balance like many American Pale Ales. Overall, a very nice beer and well worth the moderate price. those not accostomed to a pronounced hop bite will not like this but hopheads should like it just fine.

Appearance: This brew is a crystal clear golden colored ale with a tightly bubbled white head. Mouthfeel: The beer hits the tongue softly. The hops, mildly citrusy, kick in late. This goes down smoothly Flavor. This is a session beer. Some hops, some malt, but nothing overpowering. Well done

This pale ale pours with a clear amber gold body topped by a medium thick head with minimul lacing. The aroma is bitter and piney from the hops with a slight citrus note and an underlying sweetness from the malt. The flavor is slightly sweet and citrusy at first but then the piney bitterness of the hops take over. A slight maltiness lingers in the background. Medium bodied, relatively smooth and dry with a slight tingle from the carbonation.

Pours golden honey to light copper with a thin off-white head that clings to the glass edge leaving a fair film of lacing. Fragrant floral hop aroma with a crisp pine nose, hints of honey and citrus on the end. Floral hoppy flavor with a mildly tart beginning and a mild citrus end. Palate is extremely refreshing and mild-bodied and a little clean water feel.

Seeing as men’s health, or whatever men’s magazine rated this in the top 25 beers, I had to give it a whirl. Pours out medium shade of gold with a thin fading white head. Aroma of citrus and pine hops with slight malt, nothing overpowering. Taste is well balanced and smooth. Citrus/pine hops with a slight malt in the background. Solid beer, I would drink this again.

Pours golden with a medium head. Doesn’t retain well. Strong citrusy flavors along with strong hops. Very refreshing beer.

UPDATED: NOV 23, 2013 12oz. bottle. Gentle aroma of lemon, flowers and maple sugar combined with a light dosage of grassy, piney, spicy hops. Clear medium golden color with a slight, fading head. Predominantly dry, citric flavor, lightly bitter and very brief on the palate, fading quickly into hop spiciness with a dash of faint, grainy malts. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, body is fairly light. I never would have realized this was oak-aged by sampling it. Highly quaffable, ultimately. Cheers to Brian.

5/10/2007: Firestone Pale Ale is transparent yellow with a thin, crackle-like crown. The aroma is a bouquet of hops with scents of orange, grapefruit, flowers, and some perfume. The flavor contains light malts with some toast and a hint of buttery caramel. This beer smells pleasingly hoppy, but the bitterness level is in check with the pale Ale style. The finish is slightly dry. In general this beers seems to have an English maltiness with an American hoppiness. The body of this beer is delicate and medium-light. The carbonation level is mild to nearly moderate creating a smooth palate that is clean and crisp. This would be another good session Pale Ale...

12 oz bottle (Alcohol 4.6% By Volume) via trade with IrishBoy (Apr 2007). Thanks Richard!

Tried as part of a Beer of the Month club offering. Pour is orangish yellow. Aroma is very fragrant hops, grapefruit is the standout that really gets me excited. The flavor is sweet up front with a finish of slightly bitter hops and nice grapefruit presence. Very smooth and easy to drink. At this strength its a session beer. Good stuff.

Haven’t had a lot of Pale Ale’s yet, but I would have to put this one at the top of my list so far. Really enjoy the flavoring, but beyond that there’s something I can’t put my finger on. I always have a good time when drinking this beer.
