UPDATED: NOV 5, 2017 Dark. So dark once I had my thoughts on the appearance I gave in and consumed in blackout with some hifi tunes. Underworld: second toughest in the infants (if you must know).
Sweet bourbon nose with plenty of dark and caramel malt. Stone fruits with an alluring boozy invitation. Sticky, roasty toasty malts. Prune, bourbon, chocolate. Nice warmth.

(Sample on tap @ CBC 2016 Blue Session, Copenhagen) Pours nearly black with a dark tan head. Aroma is rich but not overkill on the barrel, with notes of vanilla, wood, whiskey and coffee but well balanced by a pretty heavy roast malt body that has a nice tar component that gives some serious heft to the base beer. Flavour is similarly really well balanced, roasty, a lot of coffee, toasted and roasted grain, a bit of tar, some bourbon, slightly fudgy and yet very dry for style, light vanilla, a hint of coconut, with a dry grainy toasted finish. Medium full viscous body with soft carbonation and no alcohol. A lesson in balance as far as barrel-aged imperial stouts go, bringing high flavour concentration without letting it turn into a bourbon parade. Appearance:black color, medium-sized dense head.
Taste: semi-dry, flavour of vanilla,roasted malt, oak,whiskey,wood, roasty/whiskey-like finish,
Palate: close to full body,low carbonation,
Overall: Good one, aroma drags down the rating a bit, its quite overhyped imo.

On tap at Firestone Walker The Propagator, Venice. A 6 oz pour into a Firestone Walker tulip glass. It was a black to dark dark brown in colour with a one finger creamy tanned head that had good retention and left nice lacing. Aromas of sweet bourbon barrels, nutty chocolate, vanilla, banana cake, pretty much like dessert. Tastes similar to the aroma, there was bitter dark chocolate, cherry, vanilla, banana, nutty, sweet bourbon, oak and booze. Full bodied with low carbonation. Overall perhaps a little bit too boozy and on the sweet side, but this doesn’t put me off, and it was still very nice. Great for late night sipping.
