Parabola has been a major component of past anniversary blends and is one of our most aggressive offerings. This beer features bold bourbon and tobacco aromas and a rich dark chocolate, charred oak flavor. Parabola is best enjoyed in moderation and is a perfect beer to pair with those chocolate dessert favs.

UPDATED: MAY 20, 2012 Black pour, low head, sweet aroma of malt, fruit, roasted grain, chocolate. Taste is intense, of chocolate, bourbon, alcohol, vanilla. Very complex, deep and interesting. Thick. Sweet but not overly so. Finishes with linger notes of the flavor, alcohol burn, and moderate bitterness. This is a huge, flavorful beer. Almost too much, but not too much if you know what awaits you. Nice. Definite cellar material.

ACHops (1527) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 15, 2012
Monster beer. Thick, opaque pour. Thin head. Bourbon, leather, and oak on the nose. Just a little dark chocolate. Smooth, creamy taste while the bourbon comes through on the end. Clearly its big, but the 12.5% is well hidden as I wouldnt guess over 10%. Worth trying if you come across it, but if youre shelling out $25 a bottle Id recommend one of FWs blended anniversary offerings instead.

Thanks to Adrian. Sweet alcoholic aroma. Dark pour with a light tan head. Very sweet and alcoholic - prunes, dark bread, hops, a little smoke and brandy. Complex and layered - another superb brew from FW.

Bottle shared at my 30:th birthday tasting on May 5 (30 r av Surt). Courtesy of tkrjukoff. Pours pitch black with a small mocha head that slowly dissipates while leaving some trace on the glass. Smell is sweet with bitter chocolate, dark sweet bread, minerals, liquorice fudge, prunes, alcohol, wood, coffee, bourbon and vanilla. Taste is sweet with roasted malts, chocolate, liquorice fudge, vanilla, prunes, wood and bourbon. Mouthfeel is intense, tiny boozy, slightly sticky sweet and full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with sweetened coffee, bitter chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla and wood.

The beer pours opaque black with an average, pale tan, pillowy head which settles to a very thin, frothy layer and leaves similar lace. The nose is full of bourbon and charred white oak, rich dark chocolate, some vanilla, tobacco, some molasses and toffee, and faint currant. The flavor is amazing with rich dark chocolate, vanilla all over, sweet espresso, charred bourbon oak, slight red currants, some tobacco, toffee and molasses, and some fudge cake. The palate is very full, less than lively, round, and velvety. The beer finishes with an earthy, woodsy bitterness, sweet espresso, dark chocolate only getting darker, and cake-like notes left on the tongue. Awesome beer, dark, velvety, thick, rich, oaky, and just enough bitterness from the dark notes and hops. The complexity seemed a bit lacking for a beer of this strength but everything was put together so well and the flavor was just amazing. This brewer is soon becoming a favorite of mine and their barrel series is always amazing.

Thanks to LEMONHEAD for this from trade. Batch 2 (2011) shared at tasting poured into sniffer. Black/brown body with a khaki head that moves on quickly. Beautiful aroma of bourbon, toffee, caramelized sugar, bakers chocolate. Taste is boozy but extremely complex. Cinnamon, oats, fading hops, roasted chocolate malt, sweet Kentucky love. Hell of a beer.
