On tap @ Capone’s. Poured a deep black with a medium sized creamy tan head and notable lacing. Aroma of vanilla oak, toasted bread, coffee, plum, licorice, and cocoa. Taste is semi-sweet chocolate, plum, roasted malt, and oak. Nice mouthfeel and smooth finish with chocolate and slight alcohol warmth. Tmoney99 (14455) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - JUN 7, 2012
Bottle. Poured black color with an average frothy light brown head that lasted with good lacing. Aroma was a heavy toasted malt, strong coffee and dark chocolate. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Heavy complex toasted malt, wood and chocolate flavor and a heavy complex dark chocolate finish of long duration. This is a standout beer.

A: Oak, bourbon, dark fruits, acohol, hint of mollasses and vanilla. T: Dark fruits, bourbon, oak, chocolate, bitter coffee. M: Thick and chewy, finishes warm. O: Delicious of course but I remember batch 2 being much more flavorful with lots of sweet vanilla which wasnt present in this new batch so that was a bit of bummer. arkurzynski (2427) - Combined Locks, Wisconsin, USA - JUN 4, 2012
Batch 1. Bottle thanks to bauermj! Deep black with yellow-tan head. Light vanilla bourbon and dark fruit, light roasted malt and faint booze. Flavor is bakers chocolate, vanilla creme, mild dark fruit, and roast malt. Silky roasted malt finish. Danyel (1606) - Colorado, USA - JUN 3, 2012
Bottle. Smells nutty, roasty, definitely has a bourbon aroma to it. Heavy, rich, sweet chocolate, oaky, nice bourbon flavor to it. Just right, well-balanced. Very excellent beer!

Pours black with a medium creamy tan/mocha head. Aroma has notable bourbon, creamy vanilla, dark fruits, and bold roastiness. Flavor has tobacco, dark chocolate, sweet burnt toffee, charred wood, vanilla, bourbon...slightly boozy. Mouthfeel is full and silky with a warming bourbony charred wood finish. Complex and amazing! UPDATED: DEC 17, 2013 Tap at Pinocchios in Media, PA. Rich dark pour with a nice frothy tan head. Huge notes of wood, dark fruit, and chocolate. Amazing. Lubiere (13898) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 2, 2012
A deep dark stout with a thin dark brown head. In aroma, an intense powdery coffee malt with meaty metallic notes, grassy catnip hops, very nice. In mouth, an intense sweet chocolate with licorice notes, molasses, alcohol warmth, piney hops, vanilla beans, very nice. On tap at Mash Tun Festival, May 19 2011. UPDATED: JUN 3, 2012 Midnight black pour with two finger tan head.
Nose of dark chocolate, cherries, rum, coffee, graham cracker, sandalwood, toffee, and bourbon.
Flavor is similar, but there’s a good deal of plum, and nougat, as well.
Mouthfeel is silky, and rich without being too thick.
The finish is pretty balanced, and absurdly lengthy, but there is tobacco, vanilla, char, and a hint of bitter coffee grounds which I happen to think only adds to this big boy’s character.
In the same league with The Abyss, but more complex, and even better. arrogantb (1402) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JUN 2, 2012
Ok, so I drank half a Parabola the other night and I have to say that the alcohol was well hidden for 13% abv. It was a little chalky but it was also quite well done. I will say that I think this beer does work better as a blend for their anniversary beers but it was still cool. The barrel is not as easy to notice as in the anniversary beers.
This was a little better this time, very rich and had a strong barrel/spirit flavor going on. Nice. Its probably way to much to drink a whole bomber by yourself.
2011 vintage. Fantastic smell like coconut and cake, wonderful overall. Need more.
