COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Parabola has been a major component of past anniversary blends and is one of our most aggressive offerings. This beer features bold bourbon and tobacco aromas and a rich dark chocolate, charred oak flavor. Parabola is best enjoyed in moderation and is a perfect beer to pair with those chocolate dessert favs.
An extension of Quercus Alba the Firestone Walker Barrel aged program. Russian Imperial Stout Aged in Bourbon Barrels.

2011 Batch - Pours a beautiful black with a reddish brown hue, with a tan head with red highlights. Bid aroma with notes of Chocolate, espresso, and woody undertones. Very smooth with sweet fruits, bourbon, cask wood, and mild malts. Not overly complex, but balanced perfectly! Finishes with a little vanilla and bourbon, mild warming from the alcohol. I was skeptic about the price when I purchased this a year ago, but worth it. I wish I had bought two!

On tap at CBBs Imperial Beer Event. Deep black with a very thick light beige head. Big sweet bourbon and chocolate aroma. The taste is molasses, chocolate and bourbon. Delicious but simpler in profile than expected.

Tap at Craft Beer Base. A near black pour, dark olive brown with beige head, good sticky lacing. Bourbon forward aroma, dark chocolate but occasional milk chocolate flourishes. Rich smooth flavour, dark almost burnt malt, chocolate, anise, big whiskey barrel note. So smooth and full in feel, very warming, low carbonation. I was able to down three glasses of this with no palate fatigue or shift in flavour. Exceptional.

Pours thick & sludgy; black with a brown head. Aromas of chocolate (dark & milk), surprisingly hot with booze behind the barrel notes, some dark fruits, and rich caramel malts. Initially very sweet with dark fruits & chocolates. Mid-palate shows off some licorice & booze before finishing with caramel, vanilla, charred oak, & espresso coffee notes. Warms up with more booze & smoky, bitter coffee. Full-bodied, no carb, super dry finish. What can I say? Its. So. Damn. GOOD! Couldnt stop sipping. Delicious but tastes as strong as the label states. Not overly boozy but the heat is evidently there.

Many thanks to Brian for this outstanding brew! Vintage 2016.

Great paired with a cigar after dinner. Aroma sits long with the palate for a very very good beer

UPDATED: DEC 24, 2016 2016 bottle, thanks ciocanelu! Dark brown color with tan head. Aroma is coffee, vanilla, chocolate, tobacco. Taste is tobacco, chocolate, vanilla and oak sugars again, quite balanced though. Slightly warming finish. Velvety mouthfeel. Very good, but not totally over the top.

2016 aged at 33 degrees shortly after bottling. Pours dark as a starless night. One finger of head that quickly dissipates leaving no lacing. At 13.1% ABV, head characteristics are difficult to produce so an allowance shall be made and an outstanding score awarded. World class complex nose of dark fruit (plum, raisin), bourbon, caramel, vanilla, molasses and subtle chocolate over a background of tobacco and oak. The nose is a rich mixture than blends exceptionally well then fades into the bold tobacco and charred oak background. Light full body that is substantial and almost achieves creamy. The high alcohol content produces a rich velvety smoothness that coats and flows across the tongue. Carbonation is light due to barrel aging, yet produces a noticeable effervescence in the middle and a slightly prickly finish. All things considered, the palate characteristics are quite outstanding. The flavor profile is world class and quite worthy of this beers reputation. At first chocolate is light but gains in prominence through the experience. It never achieves dominance but lets its presence always be known - especially from about three quarters through. Bourbon is similar except that it peaks during the first quarter. In the middle lies the true richness of this beer. Dark fruits explode and then succumb to caramel and molasses bringing with it a solid sweetness as a contrast to the bold elements of this beer. These, in turn, fall to the bold tobacco and charred oak notes which are preceded slightly by a vanilla burst. The finish is a slow fade of blended flavor with tobacco, oak and vanilla lingering. Alcohol remains covered until a nice burn at the finish.

Poured a very dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma of roasted caramel malt, dark berry fruit and dark chocolate with some lit cigar. Full. creamy body, flavour of the aroma, some wooden notes in the background. Dry, bitter end.

Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer. Genialna, kokosowo-waniliowa beczka, niezwykle bogate i złożone, a zarazem bardzo klasyczne piwo. Zdecydowanie warto leżakować 2-3 lata.
