4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: SEP 14, 2012 Viscous black pour with a thin ring of head. Slightly boozy aroma with a definite bourbon presence. Oaky, roast, chocolate and coffee aromas are all quite pleasing to my olfactory as I swirl my shifter. Taste is sweet, yet bitter, with heavily roasted malts. Some notes of coffee, tobacco, leather, oak, vanilla, and bourbon. I don’t think I’ve ever tasted that many things. Palate is thick and chewy, yet surprisingly carbonated for its heft. Finishes with a long bitter roastiness. Wait, there’s HOW MUCH alcohol in this? No way! I don’t believe it. The quintessential bourbon barrel stout.
Bottle, 2017 vintage. Rich chocolate malt aroma with excellent notes of roasted malt, bourbon, vanilla, tobacco and oak. Pours dark brown with a thin mocha brown head that has little retention or lacing. Starts with nice roasted malt, chocolate and tobacco flavors as well as a rich full body and smooth viscous mouthfeel. Finishes impeccably smooth with bourbon, vanilla and oak char flavors with a hint of boozy warmth. Excellent imperial stout. PhillyCraft (7413) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 21, 2017
Backlog. Bottle shared with Patrick in 2011. Pours a black color with a reddish medium sized head. Smell is cocoa, licorice, brown sugar, coffee, pine, oak, vanilla, and cherry juice. Flavor is just as incredible with wood, cocoa, figs, apples, and roasted malts. One of the best imperials back in the day. Medium to fuller mouth SimonLiew0805 (14) - Kent, ENGLAND - AUG 18, 2017

Bottle from Brewtopia. Black with no head or lace. Boozy chocolate woody aroma. Very sweet boozy chocolate with some plum bittersweet coffee chocolate ashy finish. Almost no carbo slick oily. Mouthfeel ruins it. It’s almost still. Like drinking boozy dark chocolate syrup. What a waste of money. I’m gonna keep drinking it as long as I can and update my rating when I’m finished. .................................................. it was a pretty good sipper and I finished it, so it must be better than a 3. john44 (3133) - SW London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 13, 2017
Keg at The White Horse, Parson’s Green, London in July 2017 - Opaque jet black in colour. Good creamy tan head. Very Malty; roast malts, dark chocolate, bourbon, oak, vanilla, sugars, liquorice, coffee. Fruity; dark fruit, plums, raisins. Hoppy; balancing hop bitterness. Warming alcohol. Thick, smooth, rich. Great depth of flavour. Sweet-bitter roast malty with chocolate and bourbon. Lasting roast malty finish. Great stuff. Really enjoyed this. Terrific Impy Stout! (2017-07) rob19a (381) - - JUL 10, 2017
20/20 it’s lovely, massive flavour, chocolate, coffee, raisins, liquorice, slight alcohol burn but this is an equal to KBS.
