UPDATED: FEB 5, 2014 Bottle: thanks, Kevin! Completely black, inky pour with a light-tan head that settles quickly to a thin collar. Aroma is mild, milky cocoa, dry wheat that hints towards rye (must be the buckwheat), light plums, a small hint of anise, faint maple, & a finishing touch of vanilla. Nice underlying sweetness, almost milky but still a decent roast. Taste is sharp cocoa, milky & only slightly bittersweet with some dry buckwheat & rye, a hint of boozy oak, light vanilla, & just a touch of plum & fig fruitiness. Nice voluptuous body, pretty nice stuff. Dry buckwheat & rye-like aftertaste. More maple syrupy & bourbon as the beer warms up.
Bottle shared by AKfaust. Colour...very dark garnet brown with no head. Nose...boozy, with tequila, oak, chocolate pot de creme and raisins. Palate...almost no CO2, but cloying, thick and majorly boozy. There’s dark raisins, Brooks prunes, black currants, earthy cassis with a bite and a massively tight nip and tuck on the finish. Draft pour at Bottleworks, from their anniversary party. Glad this survived the storm! Pours black. A heavy booze aroma to this. Some chocolate. Flavor is extremely thick, with vanilla, graham cracker, chocolate, cinnamon, and cookie. Dessert stout for sure, and delicious. Late coffee addition late. Sweet, but not too sweet. Boozy, but not too boozy. Fun, and delicious. luttonm (6169) - Seattle, Washington, USA - FEB 25, 2017
Bottleworks, Seattle. Ring of tan foam, heavy dark body. Heavy, rich malt and molasses nose. Very rich sip, complex and oddly bright for the abv. Dark caramel, biscuit, chocolate cookie. Cool, light touch for the weight. Cool heavy and interesting. Frosting on your dessert beer.

Shared bottle at Craft. Turbid and thick blackish pour with brown head. Nose was dark malt, oaky bourbon, tequila, cacao. tasted rich, heavy malty, with pronounced notes of oaky bourbon, tequila, cacao, coffee, and a dense finish. wchesser (2071) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JUN 1, 2016
Birthday bomber. Pours oily black with coffee crema colored rim. Viscous for sure but not as thick as i’d expected. Nose is green tequila, rich fudge like chocolate, vanilla, oak. Taste is initially sweet, finishing clean with and slightly bitter from dark and ashy malts. Long lingering fudge, oak, and tequila finish. Alcohol is warming in the back of the throat but not overpowering. Agave presents with an earthy, spicy honeyed note.
Incredible beer. Marheb (5717) - San Diego, California, USA - MAY 27, 2016
Superbe.
