Brown pouring with tan head. Complex malt profile. Some oak but subdued. Some cedar and earthy hops. Finishes with some alcohol warmth. A great strong ale. BoGosmer (3) - - JAN 22, 2016 does not count
One of the best beers I've ever had. The balance between sweetness, complexity and barrel aging is exquisite. PugUglyBrewer (653) - - AUG 17, 2016
Only the second Belgian quad I have ever had, but man, what an impression. I get to the hint of coconut amongst the layers of syrupy/candy sweetness in the candi sugar and brown sugar. A pleasant alcoholic warming effect on its way down. Tfish (2) - - JUN 16, 2015 does not count
This is by far one of the best beers I’ve had. It’s so dark and sweet. It goes down so smooth. I could slowly sip on this all day long, but I’d get pretty drunk since this is 12.5%. mariuspoenari (2692) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - NOV 10, 2015
UPDATED: MAR 2, 2017 re-rating 2016 bottle: dark brown pour with a thin tan head that disappears quite quickly. Notes of toasted caramel, candi sugar, tons of bourbon, vanilla, light oak sourness, molasses, some dried fruit and sweet spices. Full body but not thick or oily, with medium carbonation. This is probably a 4.7, but I will keep it at 4.9 because of that phenomenal 2014 vintage I had.

Writing from memory, because I haven’t reviewed the beer when I had it, 6 months ago, but I just had to say it’s as close to perfect as a beer can get
2014 vintage. Dark, but not as dark as a stout, with the sweet smell of caramel and bourbon. The taste is amazing, sweet, bourbon-y, with that Firestone Walker-like barrel feel that I cannot describe. The alcohol is undetectable (at least it was for me, but I was well in my cups by the time I had this).
Awesome stuff. 5/5
Caramel, toffee, bourbon and chocolate notes all over this. Strong aromas. Sweet tasting, very little head when poured. Delicious. 77ships (9827) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - OCT 20, 2014
650 ml. bottle sampled @ Firestone Walker Tasting. Thank you! 2014 Vintage. Best beer of the tasting. Pours a ruby dark brown, little mocha head. Nose is pure bourbon goodness, super thick exotic sugar, vanilla, oak, candy sugar, very sweet caramel malts. Taste is similar, thick bourbon, vanilla, exotic sugar, brown sugar, candy sugar, sweet oak, sweetness coating your mouth, nicely warming, cinnamon. Body is not particularly thick but works well-enough. Awesome. mcberko (17823) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 31, 2015
22 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany with a very small tan head. Nose is very complex, with notes of dark dried fruits, caramel, treacle toffee, lots of bourbon and vanilla. Flavour is just as amazingly complex, with loads of elegant bourbon barrels, caramel, treacle toffee, dark dried fruits, and brown sugar. Sweet, but no where close to cloying. Incredibly complex and elegant. What an outstanding sipper. maxifunk777 (31) - California, USA - MAY 29, 2015
The smell is complex sweet full of bourbon caramel toffee & malt. The taste is complex as well sweet but not overly so full of bourbon, caramel, & toffee just a great experience. One the best mouthfuls i’ve personally encountered. This is a fantastic beer that should be enjoyed by all beer lovers. Firestone Walker’s best IMHO! anderson01 (356) - Spirit Lake, Idaho, USA - JUL 4, 2015
Dark ruby red in color. Thin head but seems to hold. Lacing is okay. Strong aroma of cherries. There is some floral notes also. All of a sudden i smell vanilla. Very rich, creamy texture. The finish is very sweet and easy on the palate. Its also a bit salty. Alcohol is hidden very well. I cannot find anything to say bad about this beer. This reminds me of the 14th anniversary beer but better i think. This is by far one of my top beers i have rated thus far. I am glad i bought 2 bottles.
