COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Big boozy bourbon and American oak aromas combined with soft chocolate malty undertones. Complex malt flavors framed in oak, with hints of dark chocolate, vanilla, tobacco, coconut and just a touch of dark cherry. This is definitely a sipping beer, best served in a brandy snifter. This ale pairs well with dark chocolate and sturdy cheeses.

Note: Sucaba is the beer formerly known as Abacus until the Winter 2012 release.

Taster at the Brass Tap. Pours a ruby-brown color, with a small, tan head. The nose is crème brûlée, molasses, coconut, almonds, whiskey, and pine. Very sweet , with a nice, mild bitterness. Heavy body, with a syrupy, sharp mouthfeel. This is a decadent, complex, and delicious beer.

UPDATED: APR 9, 2018 Shared a 12oz bottle at home. Pours an dark amber with little to no head. The aroma starts of with bourbon, finishes with the grapes from the barley wine. This beer is super smooth, the bourbon and barley wine are very balance. This beer does not taste like it is 12%, it's smooth balanced and very delicious.

Bottle, 2018 vintage. Rich dark fruit aroma with notes of caramel malt, vanilla, bourbon, oak and a little bit of booze. Pours dark caramel colored with a thin tan head that has little retention and lacing. Starts with dark fruit and caramel malt flavors with a rich, full body and smooth mouthfeel. Finishes smooth with vanilla, bourbon and oak flavors as well as warming booze. Wonderful barleywine.

Prunes, dried mulberries, sumptuous oak, figs, sticky toffee pudding, some raspberry jam, a bit of licorice, malted cereal, and alcohol come together in beautiful form. Some herbal notes from the hops round out the aromatics. Weighty mouthfeel, prickly with mild effervescence and plentiful ethanol that lends a medicinal touch. To the tongue, it's slightly more bitter and mineraly than the aroma, though the fruitiness and caramely maltiness abounds. Rewarding and unforgettable.

(Bottle, 2018 Vintage) Dark brown/ruby body with a medium light brown head. Aroma of bourbon, brown sugar, caramel, dark fruit (raisin, fig), oak. Medium body, soft mouthfeel. Flavor has bourbon and mild oak; lots of fruit notes, well-blended with the rest (cherry, plum, fig); slightly tart. Interested to see how this ages.

Dark amber color with a tight off white head of foam. Rich caramel, brown sugar, dried stone fruit, oak barrel, and a bit of roasted malt. Very mellow with backbone like a good bourbon. Firestone-Walker + Barrel-Aged = Greatness.

2018 bottle, into a tulip glass. Pours thin watery reddish brown with very thin head. Aroma is sweet boozy toasted caramel malt; figs, golden raisins, and oak flavors stand out. Surprisingly light profile for the size of this beer. Taste is similar - a bit more depth here with leather, bourbon, molasses, and charred barrels. Light vanilla sweetness. Super easy drinking for the abv. Excellent, as expected.
