2012 version. Draft and bottle. Bourbon, vanilla, and oaky on the nose. Add a little toffee to the flavor and you get one heck of a barley wine with some dark fruitiness on the back end. mikem409 (2032) - bloomfield, Michigan, USA - JUN 18, 2012

Bottle shared by Huhzenbendahahaaha, thanks other Matt.
Beer served in a snifter, beer is ruby red, dark, thin off white head, some lacing, low carbonation, looks good.
Aroma is great, sweet, bourbon, some fruitiness, mild oak, smells awesome.
Beer is the most drinkable beer I think I’ve ever had. I’m not the biggest barleywine fan out there, but this is an incredible beer. Sweet, not a dry finish, great liquor character, nice body, creamy smooth, you can hold the beer in your mouth for a long time without any alcohol bite or any heat. Wonderful, truly wonderful.

2011 Bottle thanks to errl. Chewy, sticky, vanilla, wood, chocolate, leather, and bourbon. chewy palate, sticky wood, alcohol, ridiculous. mtlasley (142) - Anna, Illinois, USA - JUN 4, 2012
Finally broke into it with my friend. Hype’d up but I’m trying to make it past it.
Appearance: Sucaba pours a really dark reddish amber. A slightly muddled mahogany but when held the light it’s quite clear. There’s almost a purple hie inside. It’s quite mesmerizing. A beige finger head is gone in a flash.
Smell:Oak, bourbon, chocolate, coffee and fig are all here and are dissected easily. It’s really sweet smelling but the burn of alcohol is still slightly present on the finish.
Taste: The powerful flavors of oak, bourbon and figs stand up front and mix together well while easily being taken apart. As she crosses the center of the tongue, caramel and a flavor of pie crust start to shine. They’re quickly cut out but chocolate and oak rounding out the back. The alcohol is just barely there throughout it all. Remarkably smooth for 12.5%
Mouthfeel. There’s a lot of substance here. It’s quite meaty and full. Absolutely amazing.
Overall: It’s good but I’ve hyped it up a bit much. Still, I’m delighted I was able to get the bottle and it’s a wonderful stylistic picture. The folks at Firestone Walker have done it again.

I let this age for 4 months since purchasing. It's a rich, complex beer. Many flavors - chocolate, toffee, oak, bourbon. Really nice @ home sipping!

Abacus bottle, not sure of the vintage probably 2010. Clear mahogany pour with slightly yellowish white foam. Aroma is typical of a good barleywine, lots of rich toasted malt, toffee, caramel, piney hops, a touch of oak, very subtle though, a hint of vanilla. Taste is rich and boozy, sweet, slightly roasty, cherry, some chocolate. Palate is rich, boozy, alcohol definitely present. Nice barleywine, slightly too boozy though. sonnycheeba (6561) - Federal Hill, Baltimore, Maryland, USA - MAY 31, 2012
Bottle. Pours dark ruby/brown with thin, fizzy off-white head; short retention and minimal lacing. Aroma is dark and sour fruit, caramel malt, floral hops, woody notes, and light booze. Flavor is balanced malt and dark fruit esters with faint hops; sweet finish. Medium body and carbonation with high warmth.
