Lots of grassy hops with a little pine, over hay/bread malt. I like this beer, definitely worth buying again. kdm1984 (814) - Missouri, USA - MAY 3, 2012
UPDATED: JAN 28, 2014 INITIAL SIX-PACK RATING: Incredibly fresh floral aroma - very inviting. Pours to a great sized head that doesn’t overstay its welcome. Excellent lacing. Golden color. Flavor is equally superb - great mouthfeel, great hop notes, nice kick that doesn’t overpower, rich malty aftertaste. Aftertaste lingers and lingers. All it is lacking is a tad more citrus in the flavor - that is it. Only Founders Centennial IPA has this beat, IMO. WOW. Had a family member sample it, and he was blown away, too. RE-RATE, JULY 2012: Family member and I both agreed it wasn’t as good this time - he did a blind taste testing and agreed it wasn’t as great, while I did a re-tasting alone and also agreed it wasn’t as great. We are a little disappointed. Still an excellent aroma, but a little more pine this time. Taking down from 10 to 9. Appearance is good - nice lacing and pretty orange color - but head was smaller compared to Stone IPA. Keeping that rating the same (4/5). Taste - downgrade. Again pinier than last time, and malts less pronounced (though still there - certainly maltier than Stone). Mouthfeel not as good, either. Aftertaste does still linger nicely, but again, could use more citrus. 9 to 8. Taking down the palate from 5 to 3. Overall score down to 4. Don’t find this as great as Bear Republic or Green Flash anymore - depending on my mood, I may opt for this or Bell’s. 4 seems fair. Bottling was recent, so can’t blame it on that. Oh well. Just noticed a big drop-off in quality this time, for whatever reason. A great beer, but 4.7 to 4 is a significant change. JUNE 2013 RERATE: Got a batch bottled in May. ZOMG. This is like the first batch I ever had. Just delicious. Bumping this back up a tad. JANUARY 2014 RERATE: Why is this so inconsistent? Fresh month-old, and not nearly as balanced as some other batches. Piney and perfumey. A little gaggy. Not worthy of being up there with Centennial or Ballast Point. Top ten beer overall, but batches are so inconsistent. rwar. jmohno (1662) - Iowa, USA - APR 30, 2012
UPDATED: MAY 6, 2012 Clear gold one finger head some lacing
Zesty citrus hop aroma somewhat refined with mild ripe fruit some sweetness, maltiness.Very nice aroma.
Taste is smooth creamy at first then hops all the way through mostly piney and grapefruit, lots of dryness almost astringant,light/light-medium body, pretty juicy and bitter, some noticable sweet light carmel underneath a big piney grapefruit bittering.Pretty solid WCIPA.

Very good taste, bitter afterwards(expected). Nice white head. I enjoyed this beer. SHIG (4964) - Wasilla, Alaska, USA - APR 29, 2012
Bottle: Poured a coppery orange with a two finger off white cream head that dissipated fairly quick. Aroma is citrus fruit and slight piney. Taste is upfront hops with grapefruit bitterness, subsides to leave some sticky malt.

I am rating this beer based on the draft pint that is sitting right in front of me. I had a six pack of these last week and they were nowhere near as fresh, hoppy, or balanced as the one I’m enjoying right now.
This is one of the best IPS’s I’ve ever had. Recommended by the bartender, I am very impressed. Huge hop nose, mouthwatering palate filling flavor and and excellent finish. FW has done it again. Marsiblursi (3083) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - APR 27, 2012
(Bottle) Pours deep golden with a creamy off-white head. The aroma holds grapefruity and lemon-like hops up front with undertones of oranges, pine, resinous, black currant tea, herbs wood, tart apricot, touch of lychee and wildflowers. Hints of toast, marshmallows and yeast. The nose is clean, straightforward, and yummy. The flavor is light sweet, medium bitter and tiny acidic with notes of bright citrus, herbs, grass, tea, tart apricot, lychee, wood and toast. Hints of dry honey, caramel and vanilla. The mouthfeel clean and soft and fairly smooth with a light carbonation. Citric, herbal and numbing piney finish. Light to medium bodied. Refreshing. wcatsbb01 (5) - st. peters, Missouri, USA - APR 26, 2012 does not count

Bottle. Pours orange with a big frothy head that dissipates to a light covering and some lacing. Big bitter and citrusy hops up front. Middle is a nice malty balance, and the finish is very bitter. Medium carbonation and medium body in the mouth. Great WC IPA.
