An instant classic, Union Jack is the recipient of numerous awards including back to back wins at the Great American Beer Festival. Union Jack is abound with hop aroma and character. In fact this well balanced, west coast IPA is dry hopped 3 separate times, each lot giving it more and more of the grapefruit citrus hop aroma and flavor it is known for. Overall it utilizes over 4 pounds of pacific northwest hops per barrel.

Serving: from bottle--purchased at The Beer Junction. Aroma: moderate to heavily hoppy with piney overtones. Appearance: average-sized, rocky, off-white, initial head with mostly diminishing longevity and good lacing. Sparkling, light-amber body. Taste: moderately bitter initial flavor and moderate to heavily bitter finish with average duration. Palate: medium bodied with dry texture and soft carbonation. Overall: not bad but nothing memorable besides the aroma.

355ml bottle shared with mjs at Bar Molotow. Clear amber coloured body. Patchy white head leaving crocheted lacing on the glass. Delicate floral hops and pine on the nose. Well blended flavour profile of pine, orange, and juicy malts with bitter citrus peels to the ending. Well bodied. Good drinking. (Pub crawl with mjs, Helsinki 30.11.2017).

(Bottle, 0.355 l - BB 25/01/18, at Bar Molotow, 20171130) The beer poured amber and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had fruitiness, grass, sweetness and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, grass, sweetness, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy and bitter. A pleasant balanced hoppy pale ale.

Light amber in color with big white head. Aroma is of tropical fruits, caramel, malt, citrus, spicy and piney hops. Slightly sweet and lightly sour taste with bitter hoppy finish and aftertaste. Medium body and average carbonation. Very Good IPA.

330ml bottle. Pours amber colour with moderate white head. Sweet, apricoty, bit citrussy, raisiny aroma. Apricots, swetness, citrussy notes in the taste. Apricoty, bit raisiny, sweet, but slightly citrussy aftertaste. Rather light bodied, bit sweet, classical, bit boring IPA. Well drinkable though.

moderate citrus and pine aromas. gold and clear in color with huge long lasting head. taste is well balanced of underlying malt notes with pine, light citrus and resin notes

Yet another delicious California IPA, loads of grapefruit and pine on top of a firm caramel-n-biscuit malt base. Slips in some orange marmalade and peach alongside the opening hop salvo, while the middle grows dry and grainy with a rising bitterness. Finishes hoppy as hell with hints of yeast and pepper. Pours a beautiful orange-gold with a massive white head and generous lacing. Grapefruit and biscuit on the nose. Perfect slick, oily IPA texture with just enough sparkle. Damn good pint.

14/20 very smooth and drinkable, muted citrus on the tongue, then medium bitterness and nice aftertaste. was drinking more than a year after brewed.

Another brew purchased at South Bay D&L. Thanks Joey!

This pours a clear gold with a 2 finger head of foam and plenty of lacing. Good head retention.

The smell is big notes of grapefruit and not much more but I like it.

The taste is very hoppy with a big bold grapefruit profile but I can taste a bit of malt in the background and it *does* take some of the edge off the bitterness. Nice medium body and carbonation, it finishes with a citric bitterness that lasts through the aftertaste. It's quite easy drinking, though I have to watch it because it isn't exactly a lightweight when it comes to the abv. This is a very nice IPA!

UPDATED: OCT 30, 2017 Draft many times but for some reason never rated. Clear deep gold pour with a slim foamy ring. Complex mix of hops balanced with enough malts to bring fullness. Bittersweet orange peels. Recalled liking this better in the past. Did the formula change? The Double Jack is many times better.
