An instant classic, Union Jack is the recipient of numerous awards including back to back wins at the Great American Beer Festival. Union Jack is abound with hop aroma and character. In fact this well balanced, west coast IPA is dry hopped 3 separate times, each lot giving it more and more of the grapefruit citrus hop aroma and flavor it is known for. Overall it utilizes over 4 pounds of pacific northwest hops per barrel.

UPDATED: OCT 26, 2015 Bottled on 11/16/12 (damn, Im tempted to give an extra tenth every time a brewery does this). Nose contains massive green hop aroma, fresh and exciting but also a little homebrew(e)y, and though the spiciness manages to peak through the mist, the malts are all but hidden. For some Id imagine this is ideal, but its just not my thing. Clear golden-orange body with a lightly foamy head. Lightly bitter taste (picks up slightly toward the end), not very sweet but no malt backbone either, the hops just have nothing to build on. More yeasty than doughy or malty, clean, light-medium body. This isnt far off from what Id imagine an extremely mild hopshot to taste like, and its hard not to feel a little disappointed. [2013.01.28: 2.9]

Bottled 08/27/15, so about two months old, about the same age as the last bottle. Pours much more distinctly orange, even getting into coppery-brown, with a frothy but short bright white head. This nose is much better, heavy resin with classic grapefruit, oily and juicy but not pushing floral. Also missing some of the dank I remember from much fresher batches. Tastewise, firm bitterness with great resin character, rough without scratch, again very juicy of grapefruit and orange and tangerine with peels, malt is plain and very weak. Touch of spice, some wood. Full and very clean body, touch rubbery-astringent in the long aftertaste. Id like another shot at a super-fresh bottle! [2015.10.26: 3.3]

Clean light amber colour, big white head. Aroma of tropical fruits, caramel, malt, citrus, honey, toffee, spicy and piny hops. Sweet lightly sour taste with bitter hoppy finish and aftertaste. Medium body and average carbonation. Excellent IPA.

Can. A lovely IPA. A very good beer. Pours a lovely orange colour. This beer brings back memories of my trip to new York city, had a bottle in my hotel room one night. A very malty beer as uk beers tend to be.

Ein sehr frischer fruchtiger Geruch. Zitrusfrchte im Antrunk gefolgt von starkem Hopfengeschmack. Liegt wohl an den 7 Hopfensorten!

Deep golden color with a modest head, but a thick sheet of lace. Aromas of pine and citrus, along with a backdrop of caramel and pale malt. Fairly chew and lightly oily. Citric start that leads to some honey and pale malt. Light pine and orange zest in the finish and into the linger. 2/12

W nosie średnio intensywnie, słodkie cytrusy, dojrzałe tropiki, ziołowość, i niestety sporo nut miodowych. Barwa złota, klarowne, piana średniej wysokości o drobnych ziarnach. W smaku dużo żywicy, marmolady cytrusowej, grapefruita i ciasteczkowości, na finiszu lekkie alko, generalnie słodko-gorzko, klasycznie. Goryczka wysoka, grapefruitowa. Podsumowując mogła być niezła rzecz, a tak jest tylko średnio, potwierdza się teza, że amerykańskie piwa trafiają do Europy lekko zleżałe. Butelkowane 10/31/2016.

Zapach: wyraźne nuty chmielowe, cytrusowe, lekko tropikalne, kwiatowe, delikatne aromaty słodowe, miodowe.
Smak: lekka pełnia, trochę słodyczy, wyraźne nuty chmielowe, cytrusowe, lekko kwiatowe, średnia goryczka.
Wysycenie: średnie.

Bottle from Beergium.com

10/31/2016 so a bit old lady, but thats how they com to EU :( I can imagine it was amazing fresh. Theres a hint of that classic fruitiness Strong malty aroma with some caramel & brown sugar. The citrus is rather zesty than juicy and tbh its rather memory of fruit than fruitiness Taste is perfect balance of bitterness to make it drinkable and cover alcohol. Though I would welcome more fruitiness in taste I guess its gone with aging ;( hopefully we will get some fresh ones sometime when EU and USA come to better terms as it comes to international trade: For now its another classic US made IPA that proves that they have to be good in USA but in EU they are just too old.
