3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: OCT 26, 2015 Bottled on 11/16/12 (damn, I’m tempted to give an extra tenth every time a brewery does this). Nose contains massive green hop aroma, fresh and exciting but also a little homebrew(e)y, and though the spiciness manages to peak through the mist, the malts are all but hidden. For some I’d imagine this is ideal, but it’s just not my thing. Clear golden-orange body with a lightly foamy head. Lightly bitter taste (picks up slightly toward the end), not very sweet but no malt backbone either, the hops just have nothing to build on. More yeasty than doughy or malty, clean, light-medium body. This isn’t far off from what I’d imagine an extremely mild hopshot to taste like, and it’s hard not to feel a little disappointed. Bottled 08/27/15, so about two months old, about the same age as the last bottle. Pours much more distinctly orange, even getting into coppery-brown, with a frothy but short bright white head. This nose is much better, heavy resin with classic grapefruit, oily and juicy but not pushing floral. Also missing some of the dank I remember from much fresher batches. Tastewise, firm bitterness with great resin character, rough without scratch, again very juicy of grapefruit and orange and tangerine with peels, malt is plain and very weak. Touch of spice, some wood. Full and very clean body, touch rubbery-astringent in the long aftertaste. I’d like another shot at a super-fresh bottle! [2015.10.26: 3.3]

From a bottle. Delicous but maltier than expected, hard to tell when we get a bottle that has travelled half the world if that’s what they intended. captivaboy (27) - Captiva, Florida, USA - JUL 19, 2017
An excellent balance of malt and citrusy hops, smoothe to the palate, and immensely drinkable.

Deep gold with an off-white head. Citrus and pine aroma and flavor. Malty up front with a long bitter finish. Medium to full bodied. A nice aggressive IPA NiklasT (63) - SWEDEN - JUL 15, 2017
Golden, slightly amber apparence. Aroma fruity, hoppy. Full bodied, with a perfect balance between fruity sweetness and a marked bitter ending. Excellent, classic west coast IPA. pachecoweld (19) - California, USA - JUL 13, 2017
Just getting into IPA style beers and I’m glad I started with this one. Nose is sweet grape fruit, tropical fruit and a bit of floral. Taste is a good kick of grapefruit and tangerine with enough malt to balance it out nicely. Finish is slightly bitter but not too aggressive. Just a tad dry finish but not overwhelming. Tastes like a pale 31 on steroids. Really enjoyed this one.
