Pours a brilliant clear orange amber with a small frothy head made up of complex tiny bubbles. Lacing sings as it sticks to the sides of the glass. This is what a beer, especially an IPA, should look like. The first whiff of Union Jack yields a tantalizingly complex aroma of fresh mango and tangy pineapple. This is accentuated by a light grassy pine somewhere off in the background. The first taste is sublime. Sweet candy malt hits the palate first, before being washed away by perfect bitterness. As the palate acclimates the beer becomes almost juicy, like you are biting into ripe piece of citrus, again I think of mango, pineapple, and grapefruit. Lots of that heavy-duty lupulin taste hangs out in the middle of the beer, the ones that only the really great IPAs seem to capture. Mouthfeel has medium carbonation, and isnt watery at all, though it is almost slightly creamy. Despite the initial wave of sweetness up front, Union Jack leaves the palate dry and begging for more.

In short: robust bitter IPA.
Pours quite clear deep gold with nice white head, creamy, frothy, persistant. Little lacework. Fruity nose, mango, peachy, pomegranate, nice fresh aromas. Medium body, average carbonation, crispy texture. Taste is quite bitter, dry, robust, more grassy and herbal then fruity. Quite enjoyable.

UPDATED: DEC 26, 2016 Pours golden with a foamy white head that dissipates quickly and all but disappears. First taste is astringent, citrusy and hoppy. Alcohol content is not present at first, but once it warms a little you can taste it. There are tastes of pine, oily and resiny, not a lot of malt. Will buy again.

Aroma:
Medium/heavy aroma of malts, caramel, orange, pine, bread, hops and citrus.

Appearance:
Turbid golden/amber beer with a slight/medium off-white head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts medium/heavy sweet with malts, caramel, orange and pine; ends slightly bitter and dry with bread, hops and citrus.

Overall:
This beer is intense, complex and balanced. Had a 1.5 years old bottle. Loads of creamy and sweet malts are dominant in this beer. Only a slight trace of hops left, but they do their job perfectly.

Uses every bit of those 4 pounds of hops per barrel. Creamy sustainable head of clean whipped white foam. Gold color in the glass with an orange hue. Clean, lightly sweet caramel base lends to mild Valencia oranges, ruby grapefruit, and pine dry hops.
