COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is our Velvet Merlin Oatmeal Stout aged in Bourbon Barrels and it just won the 2010 and 2011 Gold medal at the GABF for barrel aged beers!!! This beer goes into the barrels as a roasty dark chocolate, coffee accented mild mannered stout and comes out transformed as a milk chocolate, smooth dark cherry, vanilla and coconut infused masterpiece. We are incredibly proud of this beer and it seems as though it was always meant to be a barrel aged brew. 100% Oak Barrel Aged

UPDATED: FEB 5, 2014 2013 vintage, poured into oversized wine glass. Nice head on this one, more black than brown. Not much of an aroma - what’s there is almost off putting. Creamy taste but very little coffee and bourbon presence. I do get the chocolate and vanilla. Body is lighter than I expected and wish it was a little thicker. Overall, I expected more from this one but still a tasty offering.

2016 bomber shared at Lingua tasting. Pours deep brown with highlights and low light tan head. Nutty aroma, coconut, plenty of bourbon remaining, barrel oak, oats. Mellow and well-integrated barrel flavours, choc, oat, nice booze balance at the end. A bit of fizz and a medium body, rolls off the palate easily, smooths out well. Great timing, sits together really well with a year on it.

2016 vintage, inky black with a tan head that quickly dissipates. A bit boozy sharp but nutty bourbon malty chocolate. Spritzy seltzer like body that is lighter than I expected. Really nice stuff. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark brown color. Bourbon aroma, delicate, strong bourbon flavor; the underlying beer is a bit shallow, moderately sweet.

Deep mahogany color with a sticky beige head. Warming alcohol nose with some brown sugar notes. Sweet beer with deep roasted grains, brown sugar sweetness, molasses, vanilla bean and milk chocolate. Nice bourbon barrel patina.

Pours mahogany tinged black into a shaker. Micro mocha head recedes to coat surface. Sweet chocolate aromas. Sweet chocolate and espresso upfront turning to dry bourbon and vanilla before the lasting coconut finish.

2014 bomber popped for turkey day, pours a medium black with a tan head, nose is amazing with sweet cream, crushed graham crackers, bit of marshmallow n muted bourbon, mouthfeel is velvety smooth with some quality vanilla beans intertwined with some sweetness and a bit of wood from the barrel, very smooth, very approachable, this is tasting excellent at the 3 yr marl, leaves some bourbon goodness as things linger, very nice barrel aged offering
