Year old bottle poured black a quickly receding fizzy head, once settled with zero head all that remained was a very fine rim of lacing. Aromas of coffee, chocolate and toasted malts. Flavors of strong coffee, bitter chocolate, and smokey malts with subtle notes of hops. The finish is dry and smokey. I generally do not care for this beer but I feel it has gotten better with age, this has been an enjoyable session!!! sliqjonz (32) - Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA - NOV 19, 2012
Great initial taste, gets boring about halfway thru. Nice crisp, clean finish

On tap at Brouwer’s Cafe. Pours very very dark brown with a tan head leaving great spotty lacing. Aroma has expresso, chocolate and caramel. Taste is of sweet caramel, coffee and some bakers chocolate. Smooth and tasty. Finishes sweetly bitter, medium long. Very nice. dreadnord (1012) - San Diego, California, USA - NOV 13, 2012
Pours dark and black with a small tan head. Nose is big chocolate, roasted almonds, coffee and grass. Taste is sweet and bitter. Well balanced. Mouthfeel is crisp and clean, body is light medium and the finish is long.

Aroma is roasted malts, coffee and earthy malts. The flavor is coffee, fruit/berries, malts, cocoa and a long and tart/sour finish.

Huge thanks to LuvMtdew420 for sending me this beer. Dark inky black, tan head, looks like a stout should. Smell is oats, stout, chocolate, mmmm. The taste is very rich oats and chocolate, silky almost and really impressive. I really, really wish I could buy sixers of this because it’s probably the best low alcohol stout I’ve tasted so far. Good job FW.

Draft. Pours a medium, short lived beige head, with some lacing, over a clear dark brown (SRM 30) body.....nose is coffee, chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, light bourbon.....taste is chocolate, heavier coffee, cocoa, very light bourbon, vanilla, becoming slightly sweet, ending with a slightly harsh bitterness....mouth feel thick, creamy, carbonation adds light spritz. This is nicely balanced, complex and typical of the style. The finish is consistent with the increase in hops. BJCP 7/3/13/4/7 Beerzila (7) - Sumner, Washington, USA - NOV 5, 2012 does not count
As good as any Oatmeal Stout out there. Tastes of Chocolate, espresso, and a roasted nutty flavor. Smooth, creamy texture. Highly drinkable.

Nice rich deep brown coloured body with a nice, one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, milk, tons of caramel and other nice sugars and quite a bit of vanilla and oak, tucked in with a lot of oatmeal - very nice smells. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong malty flavour with a lot of roasted oatmeal, some anise and other light spices, a ton of milk flavours and a good sweetness to finish from caramel. Aftertaste shows some nice sugars, a lot of caramel and even more roasted malt with a lot of vanilla and a bit of oak - nice robust flavours. Overall, a very nice beer showing some good characteristics throughout with the majority focused on sugars and a nice malty flavour. I sampled this stubby 12 ounce bottle purchased from Village Market in San Francisco, California (Ferry Building) on 15-June-2012 for US$1.84 sampled at home in Washington on 02-November-2012. Had while camping out for Surly Darkness Day. Has some nice bold coffee roast scents, nice chocolate taste with a touch of cherry.
