COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A decadent Oatmeal Stout brimming with cocoa and espresso aromas. This beer features a rich, dark chocolate and roasted coffee flavor with a creamy mouth feel and wonderfully dry finish. The addition of U.S. grown fuggles hops contributes the perfect amount of bitterness to this exceptionally balanced beer.

Pours an opaque black with a tan head that quickly fades into nice lacing. The smell is magnificently full of espresso notes and a touch of chocolate. The taste doesnt quite equal the smell but is still very good! Its pretty well balanced with bitterness hitting up front and leaving a nice velvety chocolate feel at the end. A very good stout but not quite the same as the bourbon aged merlin on draft.

12 ounce bottle purchased a year ago at Total Wine in Las Vegas ($1.79). Pours a dark brown color with dark ruby highlights and two fingers of tan foam. Aroma of milk chocolate, coffee with vanilla creamer, and toasty-roasty and nutty malts. Flavor of creamy milk chocolate, roasted nuts, mild coffee, vanilla, some oatmeal, and a hint of ashy malts. A subdued sweetness really adds to the taste. Medium bodied with a nice smooth and creamy mouthfeel. A bit simple but works so well. (345, 682)

Tap at 1702 Tucson, AZ-pours deep brown almost black with a small tan head. nose is very char forward-char and not much else-maybe a little husky roast and chocolate, but very faint. flavors are similar but has a salty ote that is kind of odd. kind of different-lite body but that could make this a very session-able stout. lots of flavors for a beer of this body. decent but not great-must revisit again!

Bottled on 09/09/11. 12 oz bottle into a DFH signature glass. A - Pitch black body with a small one finger light mocha cap. Tight and small bubbling with low retention. S - Sweet milk chocolate, roasty malts, and light coffee. Simple, but amazing. One of the better noses on a beer Ive encountered. T - Doesnt live up to the nose. Milk chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, and a slightly bitter and dry finish. A bit thin and plain. O - Damn, this beer had an excellent nose. The flavors and body are just above average for me. I wish I could buy this though, its a nice and simple oatmeal stout that does everything right. It doesnt stand out, but its a safe bet.

[Bottle, thanks cbkschubert!] Pours dark brown with a nice brown head. Aroma contains a blast of coffee, and is a little one-dimensional, albeit not bad by any means. The taste has a nice mix of coffee, dark chocolate, deeply roasted malt, and a subtle, underlying sweet fruitiness that shows up as it warms. Very well integrated, with nothing coming across as rough, or out of place. Good mouthfeel, smooth, long finish. Overall, I was really impressed by how well this beer was put together, and I could definitely drink a lot of it in the fall and winter. Thanks again, Craig!

12 oz. Bottle . Pours black with a small brown head. I was expecting it to be to be heavier but was pretty light. The aroma has a nice mixture of coffee and cocoa. Taste had little bitterness and a little sweetness. It had notes of the oatmeal, chocolate, and coffee. Wish it had more if the bourbon flavor. It was very silky on my palate.

Did not take quality tasting notes on this but thought the name was pretty rad. Three point eight!

Lovely oatmeal stout. Opaque black with a lighter tan head. The nose shows a mix of dark roast coffee and some dark brooding fruit. Full bodied, but with a fresh mouthfeel. Very balanced and delicious stout.
