A decadent Oatmeal Stout brimming with cocoa and espresso aromas. This beer features a rich, dark chocolate and roasted coffee flavor with a creamy mouth feel and wonderfully dry finish. The addition of U.S. grown fuggles hops contributes the perfect amount of bitterness to this exceptionally balanced beer.

Pours a black color with a soft tan head. Taste is full with chocolate and coffee notes. I really dont get bourbon though. Finishes clean without an after taste.

Dark body, tan head. Aroma of strong coffee and dark chocolate. The flavor adds some earthy hops and some smooth sweetness. Nice balance, silky mouthfeel.

Tap at Toronado SD. An odd aroma of malt and chocolate that made me think of a Scotch Ale. The flavor bore this out, with only mild coffee notes, an odd bean flavor and a very short finish. They advertised this as barrel aged. WHAT?! Maybe a formica barrel that merely had a bottle of merlot stored in it...

Drinks a little flat for the style. It also poured with virtually no head. The bottle I am enjoying does show to be about 4 months old so maybe the 5.5 abv is starting to fade. Good but I dont agree with the 98 score.

Pours jet black but thin, and the head fades quickly. The aroma is coffee atop rich, smooth malt. Maybe a little hops, too. The flavor is just the same, and thats a good thing. A little chocolate, a little dark bread. Crisp finish, not a heavy stout at all but a satisfying one.

12 ounce bottle purchased a year ago at Total Wine in Las Vegas ($1.79). Pours a dark brown color with dark ruby highlights and two fingers of tan foam. Aroma of milk chocolate, coffee with vanilla creamer, and toasty-roasty and nutty malts. Flavor of creamy milk chocolate, roasted nuts, mild coffee, vanilla, some oatmeal, and a hint of ashy malts. A subdued sweetness really adds to the taste. Medium bodied with a nice smooth and creamy mouthfeel. A bit simple but works so well. (345, 682)

Dark brown pour without much of a head. Aroma was light roast, hints of vanilla, cocoa and coffee. Flavors were lightly roasted malt, nice milk chocolate creaminess and a coffee like bitterness. Mouthfeel was nice and light, soft carbonation, creamy. Nicely executed mild stout. Thanks to Santa for the bottle!

Draft @ Toronado. Very much like Alpine’s Captain Stout. I’m not much of a fan of these lower ABV stouts. I want a stout that packs a punch and this one doesn’t.
