A decadent Oatmeal Stout brimming with cocoa and espresso aromas. This beer features a rich, dark chocolate and roasted coffee flavor with a creamy mouth feel and wonderfully dry finish. The addition of U.S. grown fuggles hops contributes the perfect amount of bitterness to this exceptionally balanced beer.

From a 12oz bottle. Dark chocolate colored body with a finger of thin bubbled, creamy tan head. Clean, toasty aroma of mild coffee and an earthy, rustic "oatiness". Very faint herbal hops. Notes of chocolate and raisin. The char character is restrained, allowing more of the subtle roast complexities to shine through. Medium bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel with a slick, chewy texture. This creates the impression of an aptly named, velvety texture to the mouthfeel, but is still pleasantly dry enough to maintain an enjoyable level of drinkability. The flavors bring out substantially more complexity than the aroma initially reveals. Flavors of light chocolate and raisin add a touch of sweetness up front on the palate, balanced by a toothy, toasted oat flavor. As the flavors develop, hints of vanilla and licorice begin to emerge. Very light hop flavor initially, but takes on an earthy character that melds nicely with the oat flavors. Pleasant flavors of licorice and dark chocolate linger in the finish. Impressively complex considering it’s modest size, but also crafted well enough to enjoy several glasses at a sitting.

On tap. Pours a hazy dark brown with reddish hue and a large, creamy, long lasting, tan head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee and oatmeal. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, caramel and oatmeal with a dry, mild bitter coffee finish. Medium body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Rich, well balanced and delicious.

It's nearing the fall and winter season and the stouts will be a plenty. This is really a good bridge into the season. Rich creamy dark and delicious. Just like I like my stouts, and the oatmeal adds some good flavor ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

appearance: near black, beautiful creamy nitro head. aroma: roasty, with scads of chocolate, a hint of coffee, and a definite oat creamy-grainy note underneath. taste: as the aroma indicates, plus a hint of vanilla and earth. finish: smooth, creamy, lingering roast and dark chocolate notes. notes: Superlative stout. Need to drink this again, and don’t know why I haven’t gotten around to it before not. Draft (nitro) at Victoria Gastro Pub in Columbia, Maryland.

A pleasant, light, sweet stout. A nice head on the pour. Smooth on the palate and lightly hopped. Caramel, light and sweet coffee, muffins, oats. I’m a little surprised by the high ratings - it is a nice brew but nothing fantastic is going on here.

12 oz bottle shared with ebone1988. The pour is a darker brown color with a thick ring of light khaki head and a couple spots of lace. The aroma is a little metallic but carries a nice chocolate and coffee aroma. There is a bit of bitterness on the back end that is a bit strange. The flavor is much of the same. There is a hint of metallic coffee and a light cardboard. This particular vintage might be a little past it’s prime. There is a little smokiness on the back end that I’m not okay with. The mouth feel is light and watery with a brighter carbonation and a lingeringly bitter metallic chocolate and cardboard on the finish. No thanks.

Bottle shared with koleminer20. Found this one in a drawer in Matt’s fridge. Vintage December 2012. Aroma is earthy hops, roasted malt, bread, slight chocolate, oatmeal, smells pretty good considering. Appearance is dark brown, light tan head, poured thin. Taste is old, oatmeal, light roasted malt, light coffee, bready, fine. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, bready sweet oatmeal aftertaste. Overall, not bad for nearly 5 years old.
