Poured a murky brown, a huge thick creamy head that lasted the entire beer. Sweet malty hops aroma. Alcohol is very well hidden and became more pronounced as beer warmed.

Winter Beer Fest 2016, Seattle. Brown-tan, small foam. Rich leathery brown. Lovely sweet, rich, barleywine-like. Good smoky malt note. Fairly fresh, bright carb and green hop. Really quite nice. Cybercat (6219) - Georgia, USA - JUN 18, 2016
Pours hazy, barely translucent copper with a thin buff head. Aroma features bourbon, woody, toasted malt, and subtle caramel notes. Flavor offers malty, pomme fruit, bourbon and woody tones. Bottle shared by mcbackus!!!! Nose is slightly oxidized in a sherry way. Pours an amber brown, completely flat. Taste is a chewy raisin and sugary sweet. Very good for bring 8 years old or however.

Roughly 2006 vintage, give or take. Fairly clear, amber color, minimal head. Big caramel, malty, boozy, sweet, more caramel. Very sweet, boozy, sweet, caramel, toasty melanoidans, maple syrup flavor. 50belair (3684) - Florida, USA - FEB 5, 2013
Bottle ’08 vintage. Clear amber pour with no head. Caramel malt aromas. Lots of caramel. Uber thin body. Watery and bland with no soul. What a disappointment. reebtogi (6403) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 31, 2012
355ml bottle pours a pale orangey amber color with a small white head that leaves virtually no lacing on the glass. Aroma is oak with some dark fruits and sweet malts. Taste is dominated by sweet malts and dark fruits with a mild hop presence. Heavy bodied with some mild carbonation leaving the palate with a full balance of flavors. Has many qualities of an English barley wine and is quite satisfactory. madvike (3303) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - DEC 26, 2011
2008 bottle from brewolf...thanks Micheal! - Pours hazy rosy amber with only a tiny ring of white head. Herbal hops still there on the nose with a sweet boozy breadiness. Taste is big nutty bread malt and light bourbon/caramel sweetness. A decent amount of oakiness in the finish. Very little carbonation with lots of slickness. Still pretty soft, but full-bodied. Pretty good, even though I’m not into big beers right now. zestytaco (43) - Niceville, Florida, USA - NOV 27, 2011
Appearance is a hazy reddish-brown color. The smell is a sweet and malty with a definite alcohol note. The taste us chocked full of malty goodness with a sweetness and almost a taste similar to that of barley-wine style ales.
