Poured from a 22 ounce bomber into a Spiegelau tulip. FROM NOTES: August 9, ’12.
A: Malty sweet, with some yeast spiciness and just a trace of hoppiness. In my opinion, the amount of hops was pretty low for this style.
A: Appearance is almost black with a big tan head leaving heavy lace.
T: Nice roasty notes. With some hop flavor. Good bitterness. Very even, roasty and hoppy.
P: Medium bodied with medium to high carbonation.
O: Pretty decent Black IPA. Not the best of the style, but it was enjoyable. Beergeek23322 (2602) - Chester, Virginia, USA - NOV 7, 2013
9/6/2012. From bottle. poured black with a tan head. Malty aromas with hops, caramel, chocolate and dark fruit. Bitter and hoppy flavors, malt is showing well. Pretty good one. tmoreau (4365) - Lombard, Illinois, USA - OCT 17, 2013
On tap at Lunar Brewing Co., and snifter served with an opague, black/brown color, frothy, brownish tan head foam, and draping lace. The aroma was roasty, oaky/woody, a touch of cocoa, subtle citrus, and a bit of tartness. The taste was similar notes, with a medium+ body, and an assertive, dry, earthy, resiny hop bitterness that possessed a lingering nature, but no harshness, and smoothed a bit more by some light creaminess to the mouthfeel. No noticeable sweetness thoughout, with fairly disguised alcohol presence. A tasty, robust brew. Blairgus (4613) - California, USA - SEP 20, 2013
20 sept 2013, bottle. Dark brown. Nose is almost raisin cookies. New. Thin body and fizzy. Big roasted malt/burnt toast. Okay.
