COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Swordfish Double Cascadian Dark Ale (CDA) is dark in color, with a prominent “Northwest” hoppy aroma – citrusy, piney and resinous – with sweet malt, hints of roastiness and toasted malt. The flavors strike a beautiful balance between citrusy Northwest hops and, to a lesser degree, roasted, chocolate malt or caramel notes. Despite it’s rich color, the body is more reminiscent of an India Pale Ale, not heavy like a porter or stout. It takes the very deft hands of our Fish brewers to make these flavors play well together so that they don’t fight one another. But as you’ll see with Swordfish CDA, when that perfect balance is struck, something sublime happens; the result becomes more than the sum of its parts and you’ll finally taste what makes a Casdadian Dark Ale so special. Available April 1st – June 30th in 22oz bottles & draft

Bottle shared at Sander’s place in NYC. Pours deep brown with a creamy beige head. Nose has some burnt and dry pine, a bit of pine, cocoa. Medium sweet with lots of dry chocolate, some toasty pine, light earth. Medium bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Mellow roast fin, more toasty pine, dry grapefruit. Pretty darn tasty.

Bomber from Hayduke. This poured opaque black with a nice beige head. Hops lead the aroma. This was as nice a black IPA as I have had. Some very nice west coast hop notes mixed well with anise and pine notes. Some roasty and toasty effects along with rich malts. A very nicely brewed beer.

Bottle from Capones. Pours out dark brown with a small white head. Aroma is of faded citrus hops, malty roast notes, and some. Chocolate. Taste is of smooth chocolate, toasty malts, roast, light chewy sweetness, and mild hops. Would like to try a bit fresher.

dmac (6264) - Toms River, New Jersey, USA - NOV 11, 2012
22 oz bomber shared by Dean. Poured a dark blackish/brown with a chocolate milk style foamy head. Aroma shows some age, molasses and caramel reminscent of an older barleywine, along with some light citrus rind, touch of Tootsie Roll and pineapple. LIghter body, slightly watery with stronger carbonation and a dry finish that leaves an almost coating mouthfeel on the end. Flavor of chocolate, dark toast, older citrus rind, touch of pineapple juice. Drinkable but would be better fresh.

drpimento (3641) - La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA - NOV 4, 2012
Very good beer! Poured at a good temperature with a nice, fluffy, foamy, tan head that slowly settled down and some lace. Color is a clear garnet. Aroma is hop, malt, roast, fruit. Flavor’s like nose; fairly dry, bitter and carbonic tang up front, with the bit of malt/fruity sweet in back. Body and carbonation good, although there’s a little astringency in the finish. Also the finish is quite long, boozy, and resinous.

BOLTZ7555 (3027) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - OCT 7, 2012
Mahogany pour with hints of chestnut and onyx, a nice khaki head. Dark malt, pine, candied citrus, caramel, toffee, and honey. Solid and drinkable but wish the hops were a bit more pronounced and stood out against the malt profile. Good but not Wookey Jack.
