Draft at the brewpub. First impressions aren’t good -- super strong sugary aroma. This is far too thin to prop up the gigantic dose of cooked sugars. There’s glimmers of dunkelweizen joys, but a disappointing collective. (#5679, 8/29/2014) Atom (2556) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - OCT 1, 2010
On tap at brewery pours murky brown with khaki head. Aroma of coriander, clove, caramel, and orange peel. Taste as it smells very sour at first to bitter finish with slight spice between. Not bad but sour and bitterness really diminish the flavors as a whole. sthlm (790) - Blank, Alabama, USA - JUL 5, 2010
[On-tap at Fitger’s] Pours brownish amber with a small beige head. Aroma is banana, yeast, some roasted malt, and a crackery character. The taste is similar, but the roasted malt is more pronounced, pushing the banana into the background. Some chocolate is also evident. Medium mouthfeel, smooth, and has an average length finish. Overall a pretty decent dunkel, although the roasted malt could be toned down just a bit to allow the banana to show through some more. auerbrau (3203) - Ithaca, New York, USA - JUL 28, 2009
On tap at the brewpub. Dark cloudy brown pour, with a faint white rim. Super estery. Banana, clove, classic hefeweizen profile. And nicely strong. Flavor is rich, but dry. Nice sweet cinnamon over a bit of brown bread and a nip of vermouth. Brown sugar works in with the candied orange peel. Complex and enjoyable. Otherwise, at times a little plain.

Tap at the brewpub. Hazy dark brown pour. Banana, some spiciness, yeasty, bready, light roast as well. More banana in the flavor, a good amount actually, a light spiciness and very drinkable. Very nice.

ABR 2008. Aroma is light, banana and clove. Sweet flavor, a bit of bitterness at the end. beoir (51) - st paul, Minnesota, USA - APR 15, 2008
growler MN beer hunters. nut brown color, this is an example of the name not fitting the beer. I was expecting something with a little more character but I found this beer a bit watery tasting and quite unremarkable. JK (6252) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - APR 13, 2008
UPDATED: OCT 12, 2008 From Skyview’s growler. Some sour aroma, just a little of it. Banana and wheat, the standard dunkelweizen aroma that includes grain. Wheat in the flavor. A little sweet. An average dunkelweizen.

Growler from Skyview. Hazy light brown pour with a finger thick head. Sweet candied aroma. The taste is not what I expected from the aroma. Malt and a bit of yeast. MatSciGuy (907) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - APR 10, 2008
[growler] shared by skyview. Poured hazy brown with moderate head. Mouthfeel was nice and light, with a lot of maltiness and a little tang from the wheat. Decent amount of hops rounds it out. Very tasty.
