Tap at Fitger’s on Nov. 17, 2011. Mostly clear chestnut brown pour with a smaller head. Aroma of smoked meat. Medium palate. Taste is peat, smoke, and meat. Awesome beer.

At Winterfest ’11. Dark brown almost black pour, no head. Aroma was huge, huge smoke, almost medicinal, to an excessive point. Taste was not nearly as intense smoke, but a big overpowering smoke lead to some slight medicine, peat, and sweet caramel in the background.

Burgundy-amber-brown body. Brutal peat smoke alcohol aroma. Lots of peat smoke, an odd creation. The peat is just overwhelming and dominates. Almost a dry coffee bitterness. Not that good. Brutal.

Winterfest ’11. I love smoked beers and this one did not disappoint. It was served from a bottle rather. Strong aroma of smoked grain and smoked wood. Medium sweet malt, and a very thick palate. One of the highlights of the festival

badgerben (5215) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - FEB 7, 2011
Minnesota Winterfest 2011. Dark red color with no head. Bombastic smoke aroma, destroying everything else. Backs off only slightly in the taste. Turns slightly medicinal and almost peaty. Strong malt character.

This was plenty good. Hazy chestnut brown with red hues. Very smoky flavor, rich with band-aid and salami. Well rounded mouthfeel, balancing malts and alcoholic edge. An all around success, with big flavors and highly attractive qualities in every direction. (on tap at brewpub)

On tap at Fitgers. Sweet and smokey aroma. Very meaty smoke. Malty and flavourful. Nice.

The twelfth beer I sampled at Winterfest 2011 in St. Paul on 2-4-11. Approximately 2 oz. pour. Pours a hazy, dark copper with a small amount of beige head. Nice, smoky aroma. Dry taste of campfire smoke. Reminds me of an Aecht Schlenkerla. Juice and bacon flavors. Interesting finish that is hard to peg. Undercarbonated (likely due to being served from an open bottle).

144/204. Thanks Allen. A gorgeous ruby color. Sweet meaty smoked aroma. The body is very smooth with a well balanced smooth character
