On tap at the Fitgers Brewhouse in Duluth, MN, pours a hazy orange brew with a small, fast dissolving head. Aroma of burnt brown sugar, some rum, molasses and grafefruit. Taste is a little sour, full bodied, some hints of sweetness with a touch of honey. Finish is a little metalic, high alcohol, with a grainy aftertaste. Could use a little more aging. Sweet raisin nose. Cloudy orange with a faint head. Definitely a barlywine flavor but not as sweet as I’d expect. Grainy finish. Alcohol is not subtle in this brew and detracted from the taste. incutrav (577) - Woodbury, Minnesota, USA - JAN 22, 2007
I think this is the one I had at Winterfest 07? Not sure how this is 120 BU cause i couldnt taste that much hops in a barley wine. Not a bad craft though, aged well! Mrthirstyneck (341) - Minnesota, USA - JAN 21, 2007
had this beer at winterfest in St paul MN last night. i think it was some special tapping since its been age for two years. BUT, a really great beer well rounded and smooth not sure if they have it on tap at their brew house or not? have to call i guess!! ryan (3185) - Beltsville, Maryland, USA - SEP 24, 2006
GTMW 06. Dark amber with ruby highlights, creamy tan head that fades to a lasting cover. The aroma is resinous pine, caramel, toffee, cookie dough and cherry. The flavor is cherry, caramel, pine and citrus. The mouthfeel is soft, creamy and smooth. Well done.

2006 GTMW. 2005 Vintage. Foamy tan copper body. Sweet caramelly hopped chocolate. Pretty tastey but a little off for me. 1FastSTi (3358) - Glendale, Wisconsin, USA - AUG 13, 2006
GTMW 2006. The beer pours to a red-copper body that’s lightly hazy with a very creamy tan head. Excellent lacing. The aroma is sweet barley, nice spicy hops. Bitter spicy hops, sweet malts. Nice balance. Creamy sticky full-bodied mouthfeel. Very drinkable. auerbrau (3206) - Ithaca, New York, USA - APR 1, 2005
A brown, burnt clear pour. A light brandied fruit aroma. Sweet, like candied wine. Deep floral, grapefruit and rum flavors. Alcoholic for sure, with a lost background of honey and chocolate. The BB is much better, which has more body. This beer seems tired and watered down. A nice cramy clean finish, the palate is well finished. badgerben (5387) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - SEP 24, 2004
Autumn Brew Review 2004. Whoops, forgot one from the brew review! Deep, dark red color with somewhat of a head. Uber-malt nose. More malts up the ying-yang in the taste accompanied by a nice sweetness. Yeah, fairly one or two dimensional, but damn tasty. ElGaucho (2401) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - SEP 12, 2004
2004 ABR. Brewed in 2003, this is the first public release of Fitgers first ever Barley Wine. Malty, rich, high alcohol aroma. Brown, muddy. Small head. Slow carbonation. Very rich, with some hop notes clearly evident. Wonderful mouthfeel. The best I’ve had from Fitgers.
