Very light amber pour, off white head. Aroma of floral hops, grapefruit peel, caramel. Flavor is up front hoppy, some earthy/spicy hops yield to a more bitter citrus flavor and then a big bite of malt. Chewy and good. arminjewell (9729) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - AUG 6, 2009
On tap at St Paul Summer Beer Fest 2009. Poured nice copper with white head, smelled of nice citrusy hops, had a good hop forefront that finished nice and bitter. Nothing too fancy, but a very solid IPA. Skyview (6115) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - SEP 13, 2009
On draught during the Autumn Brew Review in Minneapolis, MN. Pours a hazy golden amber colored brew with a creamy off-white head that has some nice retention and lacing. Aroma of citrus and grassy hops, a hint of caramel malt, and some grapefruit. Taste is medium bodied, a touch of spicy white pepper, citrus zest and grapefruit. Finish has a lingering mild bitterness, yet still a smooth texture finish. Well done. auerbrau (3206) - Ithaca, New York, USA - JUL 27, 2009
On tap at Burrito Union. #1700! Pours a lightly hazed pale golden, with a super creamy khaki head. Super dank, juicy, hop insane aroma in Cascade and other C-hops. WOW! Flavor continues. Super gummy, juicy, ragingly fresh hop sugar. Man, Fitger’s does the best hoppy beers. This is intensely insane. Crisp, backed with a bit of cracker and fresh beyond belief. Wow. A top IPA for sure. Really great to see that Fitger’s is still at it!

Multiple pours from a growler purchased on 11-26-10 at the Brewhouse in Duluth. Labeled as “Dec 09 2010,” presumably a best-by date. Consumed on 12-3-10 and 12-4-10. Very nice, dry, hoppy smell. Herbal and a bit vegetal. Chalky and somewhat dirt-y. Lemon, coriander, muffin, and cookie scents. Pours a hazy brass with many small, fast-rising bubbles. Large amount of uneven, fluffy, cream-colored head. Produces good lacing. Taste is quite dry. The flavor largely matches the aroma. Earthy taste. Quinine (i.e., the key ingredient in tonic water), herbs, spices, celery, and green pepper flavors. Long, chalky, dry aftertaste. Light to medium body. Soft and reasonably lively in the palate. Easy-drinking. Really nice and pleasant palate effects. Fitger’s Superior Trail IPA is a pretty standard American IPA that is good though not great. It is well made, very drinkable, and reasonably flavorful. It pairs well with spicy food.

Few pours from a growler that was filled about 1.5 weeks ago. Nice copper color with a white head and white lacing. Nice hoppy nose and strong hop character in the taste. cbfobes (2888) - Quad Cities, Illinois, USA - AUG 9, 2015
On tap at 2015 GTMW, pours a hazy amber orange with an off white head, the aroma has a decent amount of citrus and hops, but it seems more subtle, the flavor has a clean hoppy front end with a balanced finish with a touch of sweetness in the finish, not bad. robertsreality (2460) - Minnesota, USA - SEP 5, 2007
