Cask handpull at The Old Fointain as 'Five Points Derailed Porter', 5.2%. Pours a rich looking black, opaque, foamy dark brown head. Aroma is cocoa, chocolate sauce, bretty, minted chocolate, gateaux. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is cocoa, gateaux, little dark fruit, Black Forest gateaux, nice complexity and integrated brett. Very good. Characterful. Cask at Old Fountain. It pours jet black with a thick tan head. The aroma is earthy, musty, funky, brett, cocoa, earthy, charred wood, spice, umami and dark chocolate. The taste is dry, bitter, earthy, wood, charred wood, ashy, spice, leather, meaty, umami, rocky road, smoke and must with a dry, funky finish. Medium body and fine, foamy carbonation. Cask at Craft Beer Co, Islington, London. A black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Roasty, chocolate, berry fruit aroma. Tastes roasty, chocolate, berry fruit, slightly tart and slightly sweet. Very nice porter, easily the best I’ve had from Five Points.

Aroma is roasted malts, band-aid, coffee beans, wood, brett, toffee, vanilla, hay and spices. Taste is roasty, earthy and funky with notes of espresso, barnyard, citrus peel, roasted grains, wood, hay, dried fruits, esters. Finishes funky, yeasty and dry. Barrel aged with Brett for 4 months, this cask was then stored for a year Nose is coffee, old red wine, touch of leather. Palate starts dry, faintly tart-winey and funky, hints of cocoa, then rounds out with a little chocolate and earthy malt. Dry and lightly tart finish. Cask. Gravity dispense. Leeds IBF. Clear, dark, chestnut brown. Minimal head. Cocoa. Light tar. Vine fruits. Hint of smoke. Hint of cardboard. Taste is woody, light, yeasty dry. Some sweetness, at the end, on the lips. Chocolate smooth palate. Finish is dark chocolate dry, and light bitter. Very nice.
