Growler... This beer rocks!... Pours clear and nearly black with crimson highlights and no head. The aroma is of a spice-glazed Easter ham rubbed with crushed vanilla and toasted coconut, and then basted with a maple-bourbon reduction. Nice chocolate, caramel and toffee components as well. Full-bodied and silky with mild carbonation. The flavor is chocolaty, nutty and caramely with dashes of toasted coconut, vanilla and bourbon. Almost painfully sweet, but no bourbon heat. Finishes bittersweet and roasty. Big-time thanks goes out to StFun for bringing this world class experiment to my attention and then shipping the growler my way! queenholly (3623) - South Whitley, Indiana, USA - DEC 28, 2012
Growler. Smoky, woody honey ham aroma. Deep mahogany with a small beige head. Charred cola flavor. I’m not sure how else to describe it. Light to medium body. shrubber85 (11570) - Greenville, Indiana, USA - DEC 28, 2012
Bottle. Sugary sweet ham and caramel malt aroma. Medium brown with minimal head. Sweet bourbon and cola malt flavor. Really expected more out of this - pretty mellow. Tmoney99 (14844) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 22, 2012
UPDATED: APR 28, 2012 Draft sample. Poured a clear brown color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate toasted malt, spice, wood and brown sugar aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted spicy caramel flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid complex brew.
