FROM NOTES: July 20, ’12
Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a tasting glass.
A: Roasted grain with hints of chocolate and cocoa.
A: Pours a deep dark brown with minimal light penetration around egdes of the glass and a one-finger, tan head that fades very quickly. Personally, I’d like to see a little better head retention. Excellent lacing, however.
T: Follows the nose very closely, but more more pronounced. Classic porter and freakin’ delicious.
P: Medium Bodied with good carbonation.
O: Overall this is exactly what a porter should be. Its not going to blow your mind but its a good porter! BTW, Pogue’s Run is the little creek behind the Flat 12 Brewery and the label art is a nod to the beautiful smile of Shane MacGowan (The Pogues) DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - NOV 1, 2013
12oz bottle. Mostly clear very dark brown, slightly red color. Thin tan head. Leaves decent ropes and dots of lace. Medium body. Very smooth, lighter carbonation. Very easy to swig. Good roast malt, and dark chocolate flavors. Hint of coffee. Good moderate bitter taste, bitter sweet. Very enjoyable, tasty, easy drinking and bold robust porter. One of the best I’ve had in a while. Was great to enjoy with my sandwich lunch. BrewBoxer (2636) - New York, New York, USA - OCT 30, 2013

Bottle to taster. Looks good; cola with fluffy light beige head that quickly dissipates into lacing. Smells solid; dark malt, chocolate, and roast. Tastes like it smells with a solid mouthfeel. A solid porter. StefanSD (2451) - Ouray, Colorado, USA - AUG 31, 2013
12 oz bottle courtesy of St Fun. Thanks. Pours an opaque black color with a small beige head that has decent retention. The aroma features well roasted barley, coffee and chocolate. The taste is more roasted barley, coffee, unsweetened baking chocolate and bitter walnuts. The palate was a bit uneven starting thin but then build into a pasty-sticky mouthfeel and the carbonation is soft. Finishes long and dry. Overall: decent porter, notable for the chocolates lack of sweetness-I liked that.

Black pour with a tan head.
Aroma of bittersweet chocolate and espresso.
The flavor is chocolate and coffee with a bitter finish. A bit chalky. Smooth.
Medium body. Finhead (1763) - OFallon, Illinois, USA - AUG 11, 2013
Very dark brown with crimson highlights and a frothy, tan head. The aroma has light, roasted coffee and dark chocolate. It has a medium body with slightly sticky texture and average carbonation. The taste is mildly sweet to start and then melts to a roasted, dry finish. Strykzone (7362) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - AUG 10, 2013
12 ounce bottle bought in Indianapolis. A big tan head takes a long time to subside. The aroma has plenty of chocolates and some roasted coffee notes. Less of both in the flavor but there are roasted flavors. Brown sugar and molasses with floral notes. Cocoa. A bit of bright hop flavors that grow at the finish making it a black IPA almost. It is fairly bitter at the finish. A creamy feel is nice. This is a solid beer. jmagnus87 (2912) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - JUL 30, 2013
12oz bottle from StFun poured into a shaker. Pours almost black with a slight ruby hue and a huge nut brown head. Aroma of coffee and a little dark chocolate. Taste is light bitter. Milk and dark chocolate and strong espresso on the finish. Medium bodied with a thin texture. Fizzy carbonation and a very long finish. Overall, great. This would nake an awesome everyday drinker. Pours dark brown with a massive head. Smells of roasted coffee and quite a bit of earthiness. Tastes the same with bitterness and tiny sweetness on the end. Very thin. Meh
