The Flat12 Porter is inspired by the robust porters favored by the Industrial-age working men of Europe. We chose to emphasize balance from a combination of dark grains including brown malt, which was the primary roasted grain of the time. This Flat12 creation is smooth and balanced with slight roast and chocolate notes, yet its not heavy, just like a good porter should be. ABV: 5.5% IBU: 34.1

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a shaker, black with a tan head. Taste is heavy on the coffee with some chocolate. Not at all sweet, thank God. Mouth feel is thinner than most porters. Well worth trying and well worth having again.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a very dark amber with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is roast and cocoa malt. Medium body, light roast, cocoa, dry finish, good.

Dark brown pour, tan head. Mild coffee presence, roasted malts, and a lightly carbonated finish.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown body with a small tight bubbled brown head. The nose is rich and chocolaty with a slight molasses like sweetness. Some roast, burnt caramel, and a bit of hops. The flavor is a balance between the molasses like sweetness and the bitter roastiness. Some light hoppiness on the finish. Lingering licorice and molassas finish. Medium bodied with fizzy prickly carbonation. Decent Porter.

Bottle pour. WAY over carbonated. I had to dump an ounce and than did a 20 second pour which yielded 50% head. The beer was a dark brien with a khaki head that was ridiculous of course. Aroma is smoked malts, coffee, and cocoa. A little oak too. Taste is dark malts, coffee, and some bitter chocolate flavors. Mostly I taste fizz as the carbonation is way too high. Meh, Id like to try a better bottle.

Bottle. Slight coffee head. Palate teases to chocolate, slips back to a light coffee char note. Probably a little too cold. Decent sluggable porter, but nothing to write home about.

Tootsie roll aroma, some roast in there too. Taste is espresso, tootsie rolls, light caramel. It has a nice dry finish with some sharp grassy hops.

Bottle - small foamy head, almost black color, moderate roasty malt aroma and flavor, some definite chocolate notes come through in the flavor, fair hop balance, pretty good overall

Minimal dark tan head. Dark as black coffee body. Smells of chocolate. Tastes of some coffee and hints of chocolate. Smooth with a harsh finish that lessens as it warms.

Flaska. Gigantiskt skum som tar evigheter att lgga sig tillrckligt fr att det ska bli en drickbar l. Dofter och smaker av choklad, karamell, rostad malt, brunt socker och torkad frukt. Fr st fr min del.

Poured into a perfect pint. Bottle. 5.0 A: Medium brown color. Two and a half fingers of pillowy tan head. Retention is very, very good and glass covering lacing is left. Been a while since Ive seen an appearance this good. 3.75 S: Cocoa powder is the most plentiful of smells. Dry toastiness with moderate roast. Caramel in layers with hints of molasses. 3.5 T: Taste is good too, but not as good as the nose. Toasty with cocoa powder, caramel. Basically like the nose, but less pronounced. 3.0 M: Lighter body. Good moderate carbonation. Lacking creaminess but otherwise fine. 3.5 D: Decent beer. Worth a try. ★ 633 characters DavoleBomb, Mar 01, 2015
