The Flat12 Porter is inspired by the robust porters favored by the Industrial-age working men of Europe. We chose to emphasize balance from a combination of dark grains including brown malt, which was the primary roasted grain of the time. This Flat12 creation is smooth and balanced with slight roast and chocolate notes, yet it’s not heavy, just like a good porter should be. ABV: 5.5% IBU: 34.1

A decent porter overall. The good is the aroma is spot on for a porter with a very roasted chocolate and coffee feel. The finish is slightly hoppy which I find appealing. The appearance is good for a porter (nice and dark with a tan head) The bad is that it has entirely too much carbonation for a porter. This beer could also stand to be a little more full bodied/creamier.

Not a true porter, sorta hooky brown. Like this, just don't know where to classify it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at the brewery. Pours a very dark amber with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is roast and cocoa malt. Medium body, light roast, cocoa, dry finish, good.

Dark brown pour, tan head. Mild coffee presence, roasted malts, and a lightly carbonated finish.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown body with a small tight bubbled brown head. The nose is rich and chocolaty with a slight molasses like sweetness. Some roast, burnt caramel, and a bit of hops. The flavor is a balance between the molasses like sweetness and the bitter roastiness. Some light hoppiness on the finish. Lingering licorice and molassas finish. Medium bodied with fizzy prickly carbonation. Decent Porter.

Bottle pour. WAY over carbonated. I had to dump an ounce and than did a 20 second pour which yielded 50% head. The beer was a dark brien with a khaki head that was ridiculous of course. Aroma is smoked malts, coffee, and cocoa. A little oak too. Taste is dark malts, coffee, and some bitter chocolate flavors. Mostly I taste fizz as the carbonation is way too high. Meh, I’d like to try a better bottle.

Bottle. Slight coffee head. Palate teases to chocolate, slips back to a light coffee char note. Probably a little too cold. Decent sluggable porter, but nothing to write home about.

Tootsie roll aroma, some roast in there too. Taste is espresso, tootsie rolls, light caramel. It has a nice dry finish with some sharp grassy hops.

Bottle - small foamy head, almost black color, moderate roasty malt aroma and flavor, some definite chocolate notes come through in the flavor, fair hop balance, pretty good overall

Minimal dark tan head. Dark as black coffee body. Smells of chocolate. Tastes of some coffee and hints of chocolate. Smooth with a harsh finish that lessens as it warms.

Flaska. Gigantiskt skum som tar evigheter att lägga sig tillräckligt för att det ska bli en drickbar öl. Dofter och smaker av choklad, karamell, rostad malt, brunt socker och torkad frukt. För söt för min del.
