COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Flat12 Porter is inspired by the robust porters favored by the Industrial-age working men of Europe. We chose to emphasize balance from a combination of dark grains including brown malt, which was the primary roasted grain of the time. This Flat12 creation is smooth and balanced with slight roast and chocolate notes, yet it’s not heavy, just like a good porter should be. ABV: 5.5% IBU: 34.1

Aroma is that of fresh roasted coffee and milk chocolate. Pours a dark brown, almost black, with a small light tan head. Tastes of fresh coffee, bittersweet dark chocolate, and cream with hints of caramel. Not unlike a mocha latte, flavor wise. Yet not overwhelming and easy to drink. Medium-full body. Thick and creamy with not a lot of carbonation. Overall OUTSTANDING! One of the best porters I have ever had the pleasure of drinking! I will certainly be back for more, and often!

An excellent porter with lots going on. A mouthful of flavors with coffee and chocolate notes strongest. The dark ale has a beautiful chocolate colored head. I love stout and this comes very close in taste.

UPDATED: JUL 26, 2012 Tap. Woody chocolate malt aroma. Dark brown color with nice tan head. Slightly sweet chocolate malt and lightly bitter ashy/herbal hops flavor. Very nice. (Now bottled - maintains its quality)

Bottle thanks to StFun! Dark brown pour, plenty of foamy head and an aroma of slightly roasty chocolate. Flavor is nice and aggressively chocolatey, nuts and dry, light and just a little spiciness. Great solid porter worth picking up!

Very delicious porter with an authentic, old-school sourness. Smoothly roasted. Many other nuances as well, such as a mild chocolate sweetness, some snappy acidic zings, and some dark fruit notes (prune and fig mostly). And everything is layered wonderfully. Fantastic beer.

This is a wonderful porter. In my opinion, it’s about as good as a porter can be. The roast and chocolate is there, but overall it’s really drinkable. Stouts can get a little too rich and heavy, and this is so easy to put away and has such a great flavor. Textbook example here.

Dark brown color with light tan fluffy head. Nice flavorful porter. Dark roasted malted flavor with some dark chocolate flavor with roasted back end. Solid.

Aroma is toffee, caramel and dark malts. The flavor is toffee, caramel, dark malts, coffee and a dryish/acidic finish.

12 oz bottle: Pours a dark brown with a huge three finger tan head that is fully lasting. Roasty, nutty aroma has hints of caramel, maple, and chocolate. Roasty flavor starts with milk chocolate and a hazelnut coffee flavor in the mild bitter finish. Well balanced and delicious!
