Burrobuns (83) - Columbia, Missouri, USA - APR 27, 2007
Nice dark color with very thin head and almost oily looking once the head fades. Taste had the raisin flavor that is used in a lot of the dark/sweeter flat branch beer (one that I do not enjoy). Tasted malt and a little toffee flavor too, but no real nutty flavor. I was disappointed, but still a decent beer.

Very brown, with a ruby tint. Mild chocolat and roast aromas. Dry, chalky on the palate, with some chocolate, and maybe some spices, like cinnamon. Also a molasses component? A little on the thin side.

harlequinn (2744) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - AUG 10, 2006
Rich and chewy, a really decent nutty brown ale. Nuts and toffee are predominant, with just a hint of hoppiness in the aftertaste. Has also a bit of a graham cracker crust kind of maltiness. Enjoyable!

KUEric (977) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - JUN 25, 2006
On tap at the brewpub: It pours a dark brownish muddy water color with tiny head that gives way to a ring quickly. The flavor was strong of roasted malts in my opinion, nutty, caramel, and toffee.

Terminus (3716) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - DEC 16, 2005
tap at brewpub. pours dark amber witha small kacki colored head. aroema of toasted almonds, chocolate and some faint roast in there-like a nutty porter. big peanut, lightly chocolate like the old school ice cream that comes in the bricks. pretty dry and velvety palate. long nutty finish with a touch of roasted marshmellow. a very tasty and unique brown ale.

On tap at the brewpub. Brown in color with a white head that does not last long. Mild carbonation. Has a dark roasted chocolate scent and a thick mouth feel. Surprising flavor of tropical fruit in a heavy syrup. possibly pears. Finishes rather hoppy. Strange and delicious for a style I generally don’t care for...

Braudog (6836) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - NOV 28, 2004
Brewpub visit 11/04 ... dark ruddy brown with a thin head. Sweet caramel rules. Malty and sugary and smooth. Nice done with a subtle bitter finish.

humulus (339) - Salem, Missouri, USA - SEP 13, 2004
Solid. Molasses, brown sugar and nice carbonation. Fruity with toffee notes. Spicy, burgandy dark and not chalky. Lacks aroma but overall my favorite from this brewer.

Silphium (3198) - Traverse City, Michigan, USA - SEP 8, 2004
On tap at Flat Branch. This was my favorite beer at the brewery. Deep red-brown body with nary a head. Flavor was quite interesting with caramel, toast, dark fruit, nuts, and red grapes. A tasty, quaffable brown ale.

3.3
boto (2263) - Granby, Connecticut, USA - APR 23, 2004
Draught: This pours a fairly clear brown color. There is a bit of a rapidly dying tan head. Not too much lacing. The aroma is somewhat sweet, with a hint of nutiness. Maybe some fruits, but very subdued. The taste is malty sweet and nutty. A hint of roastiness to it. The aftertaste is a bit dry also.
