great Brown Ale............................................... humulus (339) - Salem, Missouri, USA - SEP 13, 2004
Solid. Molasses, brown sugar and nice carbonation. Fruity with toffee notes. Spicy, burgandy dark and not chalky. Lacks aroma but overall my favorite from this brewer. harlequinn (2744) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - AUG 10, 2006
Rich and chewy, a really decent nutty brown ale. Nuts and toffee are predominant, with just a hint of hoppiness in the aftertaste. Has also a bit of a graham cracker crust kind of maltiness. Enjoyable! BlackDonald (1126) - Gulf Shores, Alabama, USA - JUL 30, 2008
I love this beer, its great in its simplicity. A solid brown ale that verges on being a nut brown. Has a great nutty and sweet toffee and caramel nose, with a bit of chocolate on the palate. Not too heavy, with a nice balance of flavors and a bit of bitterness comthing through in the finish. vyvvy (6572) - St. Louis, Missouri, USA - JUL 11, 2010
Sampled on draft at the brewpub - Pours reddish brown with a dense tan head. The aroma has very toasted malt with lots of nuttiness. It has a medium smooth velvety body with semi-sharp carbonation. The taste has the malt and nuttiness of the aroma with a bit more sweetness that seems like honey. The finish has some spicy hops and a bit of a roasted taste. Nice brown ale.

On tap at the brewpub. Brown in color with a white head that does not last long. Mild carbonation. Has a dark roasted chocolate scent and a thick mouth feel. Surprising flavor of tropical fruit in a heavy syrup. possibly pears. Finishes rather hoppy. Strange and delicious for a style I generally don’t care for... tap at brewpub. pours dark amber witha small kacki colored head. aroema of toasted almonds, chocolate and some faint roast in there-like a nutty porter. big peanut, lightly chocolate like the old school ice cream that comes in the bricks. pretty dry and velvety palate. long nutty finish with a touch of roasted marshmellow. a very tasty and unique brown ale. Sample at the brewpub. This beer pours a dark amber-brown color with a thin and creamy beige head that recedes slowly. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of sweet roasted malt, nuts and brown sugar. Medium, smooth body with flavors of malt, treacle and roasted nuts. The finish is malty with a short nutty aftertaste. Above average all around. dwaggs2 (1297) - Jefferson City, Missouri, USA - OCT 9, 2010
Tap at restaurant. Poured a very dark color with a small white head. Aroma was nutty, caramel, bread, and some dough aroma. Flavor was nutty, with some smoke. Medium body. Good beer. omnivore (270) - San Francisco, California, USA - JUL 26, 2003
Pours ruddy brown with a lacy head. Malty and mildly hoppy aroma. Sweet attack that expands into a hoppy malty goodness. Sweet leave.
