Moderately bitter but pretty light over all. Not much to this one. Pretty average brew.

Cask - big thick creamy head, nice dark copper color, very nice fruity and floral hop aroma and flavor, decent malt backbone - very good overall ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sampled at Flat Branch. Pours a reddish copper color with white head. Malty, sweet, biscuit flavors. Tastes like a homebrew gone bad. Bleh.

Draft at the brewpub. This pours bright red brown with a nice frothy head. Thick lacing remains. A sweet malty nose. This was served just a bit warm which I liked and it added authenticity. Rich malts are tasted first. There are more gentle hops on the side that add fruit and bitterness. Perhaps a bit of grass, too. A nice creamy feel.

On draft at the source. The beer is light copper with a quarter inch of white head. The aroma is alarmingly sweet, lacking the biscuit malt character that I find so delectable in this, and other English styles. The flavor is a mess. Too sweet. Unbalanced and out of character for the style. I didn’t finish this one.

JoeinDahlem (1592) - Berlin, GERMANY - AUG 28, 2012
Sweet, thick, under-attenuated pale ale that has some nutty depth to it. Would’ve liked some more bitterness and character from the hops, among other things. Had a waft of acetic, vinegar-like sourness that might have meant the dreaded I-word. I was left to wonder whether this place has gone downhill from student days, or if the beer was never really that good. Bummer.

Pours red amber - cloudy cask conditioned. Aroma sweet malty...faintly hopped. Flavor is mild and slightly bitter. Caramel and some bread flavors..yeast. earthy. Creamy palate...overall very nice cask esb. Enjoyable and drinkable.

Deep gold with white thin head. Lacked much aroma, but had decent bitter flavor balanced by a malty sweetness. Well balanced but could use more intense aroma

It poured a reddish color. The aroma was slightly hoppy. The flavor was mostly mild hops and a little malt. Not a bad ESB.

Medium gold amber colored brew topped with a bright white head. The nose is dusty toffee with some bread crust. The taste is fairly sweet with some caramel. There is also pancakes and a weird green wood finish.
