(bottle) Pours dark amber with a white head. Aroma is slightly sweet with some hops in there too. Taste is pretty grainy with a little fruit and a slight hop finish. kmweaver (3207) - Petaluma, California, USA - NOV 4, 2007
22oz bottle, courtesy of Stine. Thanks, Eben! Pours a very clear, bright honey-orange color; thin white head with patchy lacing. Plenty of dough and fruit in the aroma; some honey and maple syrup; mostly sweet. Medium mouthfeel: chewy belgian core; dough, yeast, and belgian sugars; not sticky, but a chewy biscuit and yeasty presence; not much of a hoppy pale ale character coming through (which would have helped, as would a bit more dryness); a mild mineral bitterness and doughy note in the finish. bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - OCT 31, 2007
(Draught) Pours a deep golden body with a moderate off-white head. Aroma of toasted malt, caramel, nuts, apple, and light herbal notes. Flavor of nuts, caramel, floral hops, some pear, and herbs. tyler_mn (1475) - SLP, Minnesota, USA - OCT 28, 2007
22 oz bottle. Grassy hops, light biscuity malt some caramel and a hint of dry and spicy yeast on the nose. Pours rich copper with a small white head. Flavor is relatively simple, but inoffensive. Fairly dry with the yeast and hops at the forefront. Lightly malty in the middle and finishing fairly dry with just a small kick of yeast. Medium bodied. Always good to see more craft brews come out of MN! BückDich (5464) - McCall, Idaho, USA - OCT 5, 2007
Tap @ Acadia Cafe: Coper caramelly color, no head or lacing. Nose of apple esters and woody, grassy hops, some light yeast and sprucey notes. The flavor is a bit bitter yet sticky, plenty of zesty yeast and hops intermingle. The finish is toasty, nice belgian character while it warms. Good, needs a bit less sweetness and more carbonation.

Draught, at MacKenzies, Minneapolis, June 2007. Dark gold colour. Some light fruity notes in the flavour, with a dash of spicy hop. More yeasty fruit on the palate. Slightly peppery mouthfeel. Slipped down easily but I have to say it didn’t make too much of an impression on me. Probably didn’t do it any favours by trying it directly after Surly Furious. Or by assuming it was meant to be an APA for that matter, which is no doubt why my notes say "rather estery for an APA". Will return for a second opinion when the opportunity arises.

Appearance: clear amber hue, edging on bronze, with a nice tapioca-ish head that looks good at first, but dies down quickly.
Aroma: musty, yeasty, funky malt, little hops, lightly sweet, complex, and pleasing to the nose.
Taste: clean, yet zesty, mostly malt and yeast, spicy. Lean-bodied, very refreshing, easy-drinking, dry, even finish.
Quite an interesting brew this one, very mellow, smooth, but with a special Belgian kick in it. Low on the alcohol, and with hardly any hops, this is just any easy drinker all the way, with plenty of character.
As for me, though, I could use more body, more malt, more yeast, even...it looks and feels filtered, and I feel I’d enjoy it more if it weren’t.
Looking forward to more from Flat Earth. A good debut. BustedFlat (554) - Edina, Minnesota, USA - JUN 30, 2007
On tap at WA Frost and Company in St. Paul. Amber with a thin head. Aroma was malt and a hint of spices. Taste starts out sweet and spicey with notes of apple, caramel and bread. As it warms it becomes more hoppy and bitter. Overall very well done. I look forward to seeing this in bottles at some point.

Amber colour with a slight haze and a nice white head. Doughy aroma with belgian yeast notes. More yeast in the flavour with some fruity qualities and a bit of hops. Well done. Skyview (6076) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - MAY 11, 2007
Had this on tap at the Old Chicago in Uptown Minneapolis, MN. Pours a deep coppery amber brew with a thin, fast dissolving off white head. Lacing is sparce. Aroma has scent of dry apples, some bread biscuits, some flowery hops. Taste is dry, yeasty, some figs with a dry fruity finish. The aftertaste is dry and more apples. A very good balance beer.
