On draught at Flat Tail. Reddish dark brown color. Aroma is weak roasted malt. Taste is caramel, sweet malt, molasses, and toastiness. Pleasing sweet and roasted aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel. neepsntatties (2028) - Portland, Oregon, USA - SEP 19, 2012
On tap at Flat Tail. Colour... nearly black with a thick off white head. Nose...roasted nuts and cocoa nibs. Palate...frothy, moderately sweet but dry and roasty with cocoa mass and a burnt filbert aspect that provides some bite to the otherwise velveteen mouthfeel. Bottle at 16 Tons. Dark brown pour with a mild tan head that actually leaves surprisingly hefty lacing. Roasted malt nose with some light cocoa and slight spices. Light cocoa and roast in the flavor, a little thin and lacking in the flavor departments though. Okay beer, but not one of my favorites from them. 5000 (6862) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - JUL 7, 2012
Bottle:   Nearly black, large frothy light beige head, sparce lacing.   Sweet soy nose, some dark pitted fruit, dark whole wheat like breadiness.   Figgy and bready on the tongue.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Lightly sweet finish, dark whole wheat breadiness, some fig and date aspects, as well as some raisin and dates.   Not as roasty as others, but thats okay.   Decent brew overall.

Black coulred ale with a nice sized tan head.
Tasted grain, dark chocolate, salt water aromas..OK
Slightly salty, toasted coconut,semi-dark chocolate tastes..i can recognize this as a "baltic" but not the most expressive one.
Mouthfeel is good..soft and rolls.
OK beer but could have been better boFNjackson (4201) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 3, 2012
Bottle @ The BeerMongers... Poured jet black with a khaki head. Nose had faint roasted malts. Syrupy mouthfeel, low carbonation. Clean yeast flavor, cocoa, thin malt sweetness. Black pepper spice. Not a whole lot of flavor, an easy drinking dark beer. raphael (1288) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JAN 18, 2012
Licorice, a semi-funky gas, cake flour--with aromas like that who knows what’snext. the khaki head last a little bit, lacing, body too dark brown to see through, a mix of dark sour and hopo sour/tingle, molasses & alcohol, a little salt. this is a strange brew. quickly warming. not as sweet or smooth as other Baltics I’ve had.
