At last a session ale that isn’t just a ’weak’ IPA. This brew has great aroma and taste - it’s Belgian roots set it apart from other session beers. Have to add it to my regular rotation. The can I consumed was at least 4 months old. Will seek out fresher example.

12 oz can poured. First rating of the 2017 MLB Season! First of many. Dry Hop session saison. Huge cheers to Flat Tail for playing along in the wacky beer style game with me. Though, I would have to throw "India" in there somewhere. Lighter, pale golden pour with a thin oily head. The name of this beer describes it better than I ever could. A light, mega refreshing saison, with some lemon like citrus hoppy notes throughout. Very flavorful. Fitting that this is the first rate of the baseball season. I could drink this stuff all year. Awesome stuff.

12 ounce can. Pours a clear yellow color with a small white head. A nice nose of floral and herbal hops. The flavor is lemons, zesty, bready, light pepper. Pretty good. Very light.

Single can bought from John’s Marketplace in SW Portland. Honestly, in the glass it looks little different from a PBR: pale yellow, almost no head. The smell is probably the best part, very herbal, yeasty, and for lack of a better word, green. Mouthfeel is thin and not very heavily carbonated, especially given the style. I can’t quite put my finger on the taste. It’s definitely got some piney hops and a pretty good balance of cracker like malt. Something hits me on the back end, though, that I’d otherwise call astringent, but it’s not. It’s kind of sour and sharp, almost metallic. Not necessarily bad, but I’m not sure what to make of it. At any rate, it doesn’t do anything for me. Not bad for a quick session beer, but I doubt I’ll seek it out again.

Refrigerated 12 oz. aluminum can poured into a glass. Slightly hazy pale yellow with small/medium white head. Aroma is nice herbal hops, medium soapy body, low carbonation, and some big-bubble lacing. Taste is nice yeast, and herbal hops.

Can picked up from whole foods soma. Aroma is nice tropical fruits mango and apricot, some saison yeast, plastic, wheat. Juicy hop. Flavour is composed of pale grains, little wheat and bready grains, juicy tropical fruits, apricot, orange rind, nice saison yeast character. Palate is light bodied , refreshing, frothy carbonation. Well balanced and crushable.

Surprisingly little head but a nice haze. Green apple, pepper, clove and nectarine on the nose. Totally different in the mouth, light nettle and spice. Hop forward with a little of that grit coming back in the dry finish. An interesting beer. A session saison certainly. Not as big on it as others seem to be but it’s tasty.

On tap @ Flat Tail. Pours very pale clear yellow with super thin white head. Aroma is thin malt with grassy herbal hops on the back. Taste is similar - thin light malt, decent grassy hops for balance. Not at all bitter, and just a slight hint of saison yeast. Doesn’t really seem like a saison, but pleasant and fresh.

Can at home. Pours clear gold with a small, fizzy white head, short retention with no lacing. Aroma is fresh grassy and herbal hops, light cracker malt, and light black pepper. Flavor is moderate fresh grassy and herbal hops and medium bitterness, crisp cracker malt and a dry finish. Light body and moderate carbonation.
