Brewpub tap. Clear dark brown. Roasty and nutty aroma. Sweet palate with generous malt, roasty and nutty tones and a bit of smoke. Bitter finish. Fantastic brown! after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - SEP 18, 2011
22. Pours an opaque ebony, nearly black. Loose tan head that takes a real shake-up during the pour to stir up. Tiny drips of lace. Mild caramel and black bread on the nose. Creamy medium body, a little on the flat side. Walnut shells, black bread, and darkened toast on the mid palate. Slightly ashy finish. Not sure if this is quite how they meant this to turn out if they’re putting "brown" on the label, but it’s pretty engaging in the neighborhood of a slightly flat foreign stout, session style, so I’ll round up a bit.

Draft pint at a Whitefish restaurant. Mahogoney brown with absolutely no head. Deep rich and malty, full bodied and big. This would’ve been a good dessert beer, but I had it as an appetizer after a day of drinking. (#2867, 5/12/2007) reebtogi (6403) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 6, 2011
650ml bomber pours a dark brown color with a finger and a half of off-white head which settles to some nice thin lacing. Aroma is mild roasted malts. Taste is light roasted malty sweetness with a mild earthy hop bitter finish. A very interesting brown ale with some flavours that I cannot get a handle on, but this is a good brown ale nonetheless. dark brown color. Coffee and a touch of citrus. Again nothing too exciting for me. Skyview (6115) - Papoose Jct, Minnesota, USA - JUL 18, 2007
On draught at the Flanagan’s Central Station in Whitefish, Montana. Pours a clear dark brown brew with an average off-white head that quickly dissipates to a thin film and ring. Aroma of toasted caramel malt, hazelnuts, and some flowery hops. Taste is lightly carbonated, medium bodied with a nutty caramel malt flavor. FInish is smooth, sweet with a light hop bitter aftertaste that disappears quickly. BückDich (5477) - McCall, Idaho, USA - MAY 2, 2006
Draught at The Old Post in Missoula, MTBrown amber color, light head and lacing. Nose of light nutty caramel malt and plum. The flavor is toasty and sweet with a chewy thick pasteurized dead layer of malts that adds a good malliard type of experience. Finishes tangy and medium bodied. Good brown for a brief instant.
