Bottle: Deep brown with auburn hues. Nose is lightly roasted malts and chocolate. Taste is consistent with the aroma albeit amplified. Nice amount of chocolate that balances out the roasted malts. Light hint of yeast. Good.
Draft at the source. Clear maroon brown color, beige head with good retention. Aroma of chocolate brownies. Taste has cocoa, subtle pepper. beernovice39 (3270) - Idaho, USA - JAN 15, 2013
On tap. Amber pour with an off white top. Scent is toasty, caramel and nuts. Taste follows scent with a hint of citrus. gramity (1668) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 7, 2012
Dark brown with very small off-brown head. Toasted nutty nose, with hints of sweetness. Flavor is rather nutty with a good amount of sweet malt to balance it out. A stand up but not stand out brown ale. I’d order a pint of this just about any time. TimE (5814) - Tokyo, JAPAN - MAY 7, 2012
dark brown color. Coffee and a touch of citrus. Again nothing too exciting for me.

Dark brown pour with medium sized tan head. Aroma of malts and chocolate. Taste of malt, chocolate, toast, slightly nutty, and a slight dry bitter finish. Perfect carbonation and mouthfeel. presario (4916) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - MAR 24, 2012
Sample tray. Now listed as Bufflehead Brown. Dark body. Roasts flavour. Very good. Reminds me of my first tastes of Wild Rose Brown. Some chocolate notes as well. reebtogi (6267) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 6, 2011
650ml bomber pours a dark brown color with a finger and a half of off-white head which settles to some nice thin lacing. Aroma is mild roasted malts. Taste is light roasted malty sweetness with a mild earthy hop bitter finish. A very interesting brown ale with some flavours that I cannot get a handle on, but this is a good brown ale nonetheless. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - SEP 18, 2011
22. Pours an opaque ebony, nearly black. Loose tan head that takes a real shake-up during the pour to stir up. Tiny drips of lace. Mild caramel and black bread on the nose. Creamy medium body, a little on the flat side. Walnut shells, black bread, and darkened toast on the mid palate. Slightly ashy finish. Not sure if this is quite how they meant this to turn out if they’re putting "brown" on the label, but it’s pretty engaging in the neighborhood of a slightly flat foreign stout, session style, so I’ll round up a bit. marcus (10222) - Sacramento, California, USA - JUL 21, 2011
On tap at the brewpub in Missoula. Pours dark brown with a modest beige head and a toasty aroma. There is a mild roasted malt flavor with a dry bitter finish.
