Draft at Hop’s. Damn this place is dark, and I’m really looking forward to my yak burger. Anyway, clear medium amber pour, white head and irregular lacing. Pine, citrus, candied orange and caramel. Taste is moderately sweet (caramel) with assertive bitterness. Medium+ body, average+ carbonation. Warming. Overall: solid middle of the road double ipa. Grassy, sweet and flavorful aromas emanating from the nose of this clear pale ale looking pour. Not much of a head but decent lacing.
Very smooth palate to this beer. A bit of effervescence helps cut the early onset bitterness from this well hopped beer. Currently drinking the 2012 bottle side-by-side with the '11. Very similar and smooth. The '11 has less hoppiness.
Sweet taste... Apricots, tropical sweet fruit flavors with a grassiness that ligers in the front of the palate. Good stuff!

2 years side by side:
2012 - Bottle - Earthy hops and nice malty sweetness to balance. Ruddy copper with minimal head. Nice grapefruit hoppy but balanced well with a malty brown sugar sweetness. A really nice imperial IPA, nothing fancy but well done.
2011 - Bottle - Sweet fruit, molasses, and alcohol heat. Ruddy copper with minimal head. Bitterness from the hops, but none of the flavor. Brown sugar, molasses and a bit of alcohol. Some apricot like fruit. reebtogi (6315) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 16, 2012
650ml bomber pours a golden orange color with a 2 finger white head that retains quite well and leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is grapefruit and pine with notes of cereal grains. Taste is a bold pine and grapefruit bitterness with an underlying grainy malt sweetness. Medium to heavy body with adequate carbonation leaving a pleasant feeling on the palate. A bold and nicely done DIPA that is definitely worth trying.
