Draft at the source. Crystal clear golden color, thick white head with solid sheets of lacing. Aroma of bright pine resin. Taste is soapy bright pone. Tasty.

2 years side by side: 2012 - Bottle - Earthy hops and nice malty sweetness to balance. Ruddy copper with minimal head. Nice grapefruit hoppy but balanced well with a malty brown sugar sweetness. A really nice imperial IPA, nothing fancy but well done. 2011 - Bottle - Sweet fruit, molasses, and alcohol heat. Ruddy copper with minimal head. Bitterness from the hops, but none of the flavor. Brown sugar, molasses and a bit of alcohol. Some apricot like fruit.

Brewpub tap. This batch is 9.8%. Clear orange amber, big passionfruit and citrus aroma, sweet. Perfect harmony between equally generous sweet malt and cascade hoppiness. Very bitter finish. A big beer that satisfies perfectly.

marcus (10231) - Sacramento, California, USA - JUL 21, 2011
On tap at the brewpub in Missoula. Pours amber with a decent off-white head and a citrus aroma. There is a hearty caramel malt flavor with a seriously bitter hop finish. Tastes great.

Poured up on tap at the Missoula location with clear deep gold body and copper hues supporting a full semi tight off white head. The modest aroma has hints of both citrus and spicy hoppiness. The taste is nice and chewy with rich hop flavor of malt sweetened citrus and tangy spicy hops. These notes grow into only a modest yet pleasing level of hoppy bitterness. The hop flavor holds right into the finish as moderate bitterness swells from time to time. Solid IPA here with loads of pleasing hop flavor punch. This is just what I was in the mood for. Oh? This is a IIPA. That explains why I liked it as an IPA.

Tap. Pours clear amber with a medium off white head and decent lacing. Aroma is dominated by that silky smooth grapefruit that makes Pliny so good. Flavor is grapefruit, notes of pine, and a slightly sweet malt backbone. Finish is medium bitter. This is a very nice dipa.

Braudog (6717) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - MAY 13, 2007
Draft half-pint at the brewery taproom. Pretty light in color but a nice firm foam head. Deeply resiny hop aroma. Mildly strong but without being over-done. Warming, although subtlely so. This is a very, very well done "big" beer that’s just not too big, as some can be. Nice welcome to Montana. (#2859, 5/12/2007)

reebtogi (6277) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 16, 2012
650ml bomber pours a golden orange color with a 2 finger white head that retains quite well and leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is grapefruit and pine with notes of cereal grains. Taste is a bold pine and grapefruit bitterness with an underlying grainy malt sweetness. Medium to heavy body with adequate carbonation leaving a pleasant feeling on the palate. A bold and nicely done DIPA that is definitely worth trying.
