Flavorful Dunkel, could use more color and textured. Compared to other Dunkels’ it’s rather bland.

chinchill (4825) - South Carolina, USA - MAY 9, 2017
Stubby 330 ml. ceramic swing-top bottle; BB date stamp of 6 June 2017. Pours with a copper colored body that has excellent clarity. The head is semi-durable and leaves thin lacing. Aroma: caramelized grain, brown bread and mild spicy hops. Flavor: toasted grains and caramel with spicy hops gaining strength in the finish. Feel: very smooth with a medium body. Overall: an enjoyable, very easy-drinking, mainstream example of a German dunkel lager. Recommended.

jimhilt (2602) - Bow, New Hampshire, USA - APR 19, 2017
Pours a three finger white head that fades quickly leaving traces of lace. Crystal clear copper/amber color. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Bready, malty nose and flavor is a singular grainy malt, boring. Light hoppy aftertaste. $2.70 for a 330ml bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma.

KyotoLefty (10106) - Kyoto, JAPAN - APR 11, 2017
Bottled. Chewy, malty nose, with nice chocolate fudge and caramel. Brown with orange tints, medium head. Rather light and thin, a bit thinner than the nose leads one to suspect. Light body too. Not so special.

sjogro (3764) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - MAR 19, 2017
Bottle at home. Clear brown tea colored amber with white head. Dry bitter grains, roasted corncob, some caramel sweetness, sugarcane. Light sweet and over moderate ground bitterness. Under or about medium body, soft fizzy carbonation, clean mineral watery feel, yet also a bit malty. Quite bitter and grainy with a thin syruppy sweetness. Very good drinkable bitter ale.
