bottle, big thanks to baerwaldt for bringing this to the letiny beerfest. dark amber, almost clear with a persistent head; boozy aroma with some weeds, wildflowers; light bitterness, plenty of alcohol showing, grass, not bad

Bouteille 33cl.

Bottle from Les Fleurs du Malt (the shop), Lyon. Pours a deep clear bronze-hued amber body with a medium creamy light beige head, looking quite delicious. Nose is caramel, burnt sugar, grains, straw, nuts and hints of red fruits, butterscotch and alcohol. Taste is major red fruits, wine gum, grains, caramel, alcohol and hints of toffee, raisins and white sugar. Bitter, resinous finish. Medium to full body, medium to high carbonation. Nice and fruity BW, a bit different from the regular English or American ones; more in the Belgian territory perhaps.

Barleywine très foncée, je trouve qu’elle est loupée, surchargée,trop de céréales, houblons? Désolé pas pour moi, alors que les barley en général j’adore

Lubiere (14240) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 12, 2013
A dark amber barley wine with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with roasted and vinous notes, sugar cane, molasses and floral hops. In mouth, sweet burned caramel with vinous notes, floral hops, light licorice, alcohol burn, nice. Bottle at Mondial, May 31, 2013.

Bought from a bottle shop while in Paris. Poured a dark brown and smelled fruity, taste was quite dry but nice.

JEK69 (397) - FRANCE - MAR 21, 2013
It pours dark brown with a huge beige foam head that slightly disappears. It smells dried fruits and solvent plus amazing and very strange estery perfume-like floral/violet aromas in mouth. Very strong bitterness in aftertaste. This is a - strange, but nice, and a bit too alcoholic and unbalanced - Barley wine. Difficult to finish a bottle. The most interesting thing here is: that’s French.

erickok (6036) - Leuven, BELGIUM - MAR 2, 2013
Deep brown body with stable tan, big lace. Interesting and uncommon aroma with figs, pumpkin, dry wood and dry yeast. However, the taste is even more bizarre. Very sharp, ginger, chili, foelie. Astringent taste, strong spice flavour, odd and not very nice to be honest. Surprised this is brewed without spices. What happened here? Unique aroma and taste but... Sorry, not for me. (33cl bottle from Bière Révolution)
