An American-style Amber lager using a perfect blend of two-row, caramel and Carapils® malt, Northern Brewer and German Tradition hops. This combination of ingredients imparts a slight roasted malt and sweet caramel notes, a subtle spice and richness, finishing with a crisp, clean lighter.

Bottle. The pour was a clear golden amber with a huge (3-4 finger) white pillowy head that receded at a slow steady pace down to a thick film and large collar with excellent sheets of lacing. The aroma was of a light grain malt, grassy hops and a moldy yeast with a hint of caramel and a touch of honey. The taste was lightly malty sweet with a hint of caramel from the start and had a mild bitterness with slight honey sweetness at the end. The flavor lasted an average duration following the swallow, with a slightly metallic bitter taste left to linger a bit longer. Mouthfeel was light in body and watery in texture with a fizzy carbonation. Overall a pretty basic American Lager, that had a crisp feel to it with a lingering aftertaste...

UPDATED: SEP 23, 2017 A good lager to me is pleasant, refreshing and has subtle but interesting flavor. If that is my criteria, Florida Lager hits on all cylinders. This is definitely something I would order again.

Pours clear topaz with a thick and fairly persistent cream head. Aroma offers fresh malt and sweet apple notes. Flavor adds some piney hops to the mix for a tasty and very drinkable lager. Mouthfeel features typical body and fizz. A nice mild beer for when you’re in the mood for some casual drinking. Use it to introduce your megabrew loyalist friends to craft beer.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a clear light copper color with a medium sized white head. The aroma is toasted malt and some caramel. The taste is hop driven with some faint malt in the background. An average beer.

BeerandBlues2 (14027) - Escondido, California, USA - JUL 20, 2016
Draught at the brewery. Pours clear golden orange with a medium, creamy white head, long retention with good lacing. Aroma is heavy grainy Pils malt, light corn and spicy hops. Flavor is sweet corny Pils malt, medium spicy hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Light body and medium carbonation.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden color with a white h ad. Aroma of citrus, grain and bit of malt sweetness. Taste of citrus, bit of malt sweetness, and grain. Mild bitterness and a firmly clean finish. Light body, and fairly bland. Didn’t expect much from a South Florida Lager, so not really disappointed.

There are multiple reasons to dislike Florida: old people, tourist traps, swamp fever, old people, trailer parks, lack of BLATZ, old people, and so on. This beer does nothing to redeem the state for the rest of the Union. Hie your old ass north and slam down the Blatz that is the pride of the good ol’ US of A!!!

BJCP 2015 Category 2B: International Amber Lager

AROMA: Light amber malt presence. Faint corn or DMS? Clean fermentation otherwise. 9/12

APPEARANCE: Crystal clear amber. Highly effervescent. Large beige foamy head. Decent retention and lacing. 3/3

FLAVOR: Moderate biscuit/toast notes; general amber malt flavor. Some dry bitterness on second half. Some caramel sweetness as it warms, though flaked maize is noticeable. No abrasive flaws. 15/20

MOUTHFEEL: Medium/light body. Crisp. Not refreshing, but smooth and sessionable. 4/5

OVERALL IMPRESSION: Better than Yuengling, almost as good as Brooklyn Lager. Drinker-friendly (which is why this is also the Simpson’s "Duff Beer" at Universal Studios). 7/10

Medium regular lager smell, taste is a standard lager, no surprises...Medium-Mild flavor and a bit more bitter than standard...but smooth and refreshing
