COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark as the midnight sea, this medium bodied porter combines flavors from 8 malts, including 4 distinct chocolate malts (Victory, Chocolate, Rye and Midnight Wheat) with fresh nugget and cascade hops that work together to form a harmonious balance of aroma and flavor. Imparting a dry roasted malt character, with subtle hints of cocoa, licorice and toffee, this brew possess a balanced hop spice and malty finish.

Pours thin and blackish red with small off white head. Coffee and chocolate malt aroma. Thin body with a coffee and slight malt taste. It was better than I thought it would be.

Clear, dark amber pour with off-white head. Sweet aroma with notes of caramel with only slight hints of roast. The flavor is moderately sweet and very lightly bitter. The finish has a vague taste of roasted malts. Crisp, clean mouthfeel with lively carbonation. Far from a robust, roasted malty porter. Still, you could drink lots of this because it goes down easily. But it’s not much of a porter. So I am dividing the rating between a mediocre porter and a drinkbable ale. Thanks BigMilly8.

UPDATED: SEP 8, 2007 From bottle :Pours a nice thick handsome head, very dark appearance. Chocolatey and coffee aroma. Tastes much like it smells. The flavor is ok. The beer is thin, slighty watery in your mouth, but goes down very smooth. Aftertaste of Chocolate. Good beer

Easily the best of the Ybor mix pack and actually a pretty tasty beer overall Nice vanilla and coffee aromas and flavors, and a pleasent crisp finish. Not bad at all.

Appearance: Pours out a clear chestnut brown color with a light brown head. Rather light in color compared to most other porters I’ve had. Smell: The lukewarm aroma tries hard to hide any detection of roasted malts, chocolate, and nuts. Be sure to give it a very vigorous swirl before sniffing! Taste: What to say about a beer that there’s not much to say about? Malts are syrupy sweet (Tootsie Pops) and a touch toasty. Not much actual hop flavor, but there is some brief, spicy bitterness in the finish. No discernable alcohol flavors. Mouthfeel: Such a crisp porter! Mouthfeel is fairly thin, bordering on watery. Perhaps this is actually pretty appropriate for the Florida heat... Drinkability: Not impressive. I wouldn’t even touch this beer with YOUR tongue.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Degarth. Thanks! Pours a dark brown almost black, with 2 fingers of beige head. Smells of malts, chocholate, caramel, coffee. Creamy taste, little light bodied, but very drinkable. Taste is quite similar to the smells. Good beer

I am a huge Ybor Gold fan, and this is my least favorite. If I want to drink a Porter, this is the last place I want to turn.

12 oz bottle via Degarth (thanks!). Pours a dark brown/near black with a small head. Nose is toasted grains with some raisin notes. Taste like it smells with some roasted malt, some nuttiness, a light/medium body and moderate carbonation. not bad.

Probably the only beer this brewery makes that is remotely drinkable. And the only think i can rate it good was the color. Some hint of coffee in the aroma. very light. Pours dark brown. The flavor has some coffee and a hint of chocolate, very mild.
