On tap at GTMW. Poured cloudy peach with a loose off-white head. The aroma was very sweet, with honey, warm dark fruits, and some odder, more exotic fruits leading.. some floral accents.. a lot going on, and it didn’t all make sense. The flavor was sweet as expected, with heavy honey and sticky, warm fruits at the core.. lightly sour barrel and peppery alcohol around and through the finish.. very much warmed the belly. Draft pour on tap at GTMW 2012 (Madison, WI). Pours a rich hazy deeper golden amber pour, some healthy glow. Frothy whitish head dies to a decent film, laces ok. Aromas are bit of honey, oak, and barrel. Some heat, sweet honey, apple. Gentle yeast, touches of fruit, and toffee. Gentle honey, oak, spirit. Initial is sweet big, and thick. Offering honey, apple, oak. Gentle whiskey, spirit, heat. Rich flavors, bread, and gentle honey sweet mead influence. Some sweetness, thick overall, lots of apple, toffee, toast. Middle is toasty and thick, sweet and oaky, apples and fruit. Finish is sweet, oaky, some heat. Wow. Mead really gives an influence into this Tripel/Strong Belgian. Great flavors. Tasty, but thick and sweet. Wow. Interesting.
